Keke Palmer is still the ultimate MVP.
In case you missed it, Keke’s boyfriend Darius Jackson, the father of their 4-month-old kid Leo, caused a commotion online after publicly commenting on the outfit she wore to an Usher performance in Las Vegas. The True Jackson VP alum offered her message for new mums on social media the same day.
“Do you, new moms,” she told The Cut recently. “Do you. If there’s one person on this planet who is certain to love you, it’s that baby. Be joyful, for there is no other love like it. Who cares if someone loves you like that?”
The Key TV creator, 29, also discussed her new life chapter after the birth of her son child in February.
“After having my baby, I’ve become much more powerful,” she explained. “I’m just insanely strengthened.” I’m strutting my stuff and having a good time. I was quite self-conscious even before I had the baby. In the manner that you would expect given the nature of my profession as a public figure.”
Keke explained that while “there’s a lot of physical attention” on her body, she’s simply “leaning into her new body.”
“I’m just continuing to spread my wings as a young woman,” she added. “My mindspace is just to keep inspiring and encouraging myself and anyone else who wants to go down that path with me.” Because we are changing and growing.
Keke Palmer is still the ultimate MVP.
It’s all about enjoying who I am and loving everything I’ve experienced and gone through to get here. Many thanks for everything.”
Her new interview came only days after internet users defended her following her boyfriend’s online commentary. In reaction to a video of Keke dancing with Usher while wearing a full-length revealing gown, he tweeted on July 5, “It’s the outfit tho.. you a mum.”
In a subsequent tweet, he stated, “We live in a generation where a man of the family doesn’t want the wife & mother to his kids to showcase booty cheeks to please others & he gets told how much of a hater he is.”
“This is my family and my representation,” Darius added. I have principles and standards for what I believe. “I submit my case.”
Though the Nope actress has not publicly addressed the criticism, she did upload more steamy photos of herself from her night out just hours afterward. Not to mention, Keke recently dedicated a social media post to her son, announcing that she was now selling “I’M A MOTHA” merchandise.
“One thing is certain, and one thing is true, IM A MOTHA, through and through!” she captioned an Instagram video of herself singing to her kid on July 7. “How did your baby change you? All my moms out there?” Mine gave me confidence! On another level, my perspective shifted because when my baby is happy, I’m happy! Look at that expression! Gratitude abounds.”
