Trudeau Sparks Anger After Labeling Trump Voters “Misogynists”
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has sparked anger after labelling American voters as “misogynists” for re-electing former President Donald Trump in the 2024 election.
Trudeau made an unexpected remark about the American electoral decision during a press conference that was intended to address gender equality and the global fight against misogyny.
Specifically, he suggested that the decision indicated underlying issues within the electorate regarding women’s rights and gender discrimination.
“I am and always will be a proud feminist. You will always have an ally in me and my government.” Trudeau said.
“Women’s rights and women’s progress is under attack, overtly and subtly, but I want you to know that I am and always will be a proud feminist,” he said. Suggesting that the U.S. election had been a step backwards in the “march towards progress.”
Critics quickly argued that his remarks were disrespectful to American voters and indicative of a growing trend of foreign leaders criticizing domestic political choices.
Trudeau Sparks Anger
Many took to social media to express their frustration, with hashtags like #TrudeauOutOfLine trending within hours.
“Could a counterpunch get any lamer?” Fox News host Kayleigh McEnany said Thursday on “Outnumbered” after showing Trudeau’s remarks.
Fellow panellist Lisa Kennedy Montgomery seemed to have trouble with the concept of a male feminist.
“No, I watched that and I went, ‘Wow, Justine Trudeau,'” she commented.
“What brand of tampons do you use?” she added. “Such a proud feminist. My goodness. I’m trembling with fear. Please don’t invade us with your soy boyness.”
Wrong Speak Publishing Founder Adam B Coleman has slammed Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau over a speech suggesting Donald Trump’s victory was an “attack” on women’s progress.
“Never trust a man who calls himself a feminist … they’re always snakes,” Mr Coleman said.
“If he wants to blame anybody for women not coming through, blame the Democrats.”

Supporters of Trudeau defended his position, emphasizing the need to confront misogyny in all forms and asserting that his comments were a call to action rather than an outright condemnation of the electorate.
They argued that the election of a president with a history of derogatory remarks toward women represented a failure to prioritize gender equality in politics.
No Political Future
Political analysts suggest that Trudeau’s comments could have implications for Canada-U.S. relations. As both nations share a long-standing alliance, statements perceived as disrespectful may strain diplomatic ties, especially as both countries navigate complex issues such as trade, health care, and climate change.
The controversy has reignited discussions about politicians’ roles in addressing social issues and the fine line between advocacy and interference in neighbouring countries’ political affairs.
As the debate continues, Trudeau may need to clarify his stance and approach to ensure that his commitment to gender equality does not overshadow the importance of diplomatic respect.
As the fallout from Trudeau’s remarks unfolds, American voters and political commentators alike are left to ponder the implications of a foreign leader’s critique of their electoral choices and the ongoing battle against misogyny in politics.
In his ninth year as prime minister, Trudeau’s approval rate has plummeted from 63% when he was first elected to 28% in June of this year, according to one poll tracker.
This sinking popularity has already affected Trudeau’s governing Liberal Party. In a recent by-election, the party lost a Toronto federal seat held for 30 years to the opposition Conservative Party—a major sign of trouble.
According to an Ipsos poll, around two-thirds (67%) of Canadians now disapprove of Justin Trudeau’s leadership as Prime Minister, an increase of 4 points since June. Approval is at a new low, with only one-third (33%) saying they approve of Trudeau’s leadership.
