Tim Robbins Condemns Drawing Parallels Between His ‘Bob Roberts’ Film And Trump Assassination Attempt
Tim Robbins wants conspiracy theorists to quit trying to link his 1992 film “Bob Roberts” to the attempted assassination of US President Donald Trump.
A political fiction film from three decades ago features a premise in which a contender for politics staged an assassination attempt to boost his chances. Robbins responded to remarks on X suggesting that Saturday’s events in Butler, Pennsylvania, were a political ruse.
“To anyone drawing a parallel between my film Bob Roberts and the attempted assassination of Trump, let’s be clear,” Tim wrote in a Sunday letter. “What happened yesterday was a real attempt on a presidential candidate’s life.”

Tim wrote, directed, and starred in the film, which follows a conservative politician running for a seat in the United States Senate.
“Those who deny that the assassination attempt occurred are truly deranged,” Robbins stated in his piece.
“A person was shot yesterday. He said, “Another person was killed.” “They may not be human beings you agree with politically, but for shame, folks.”
The gunfire injured Trump’s ear and killed firefighter Corey Comperatore. David Dutch, 57, of New Kensington, Pennsylvania, and James Copenhaver, 74, of Moon Township, Pennsylvania, were both gravely injured but are currently in stable condition, according to a news release from state police.

Robbins’ post concluded with a call for togetherness.
“Get over your mindless hatred for these folks. He wrote, “They are fellow Americans.” “This collective hatred is killing our souls and consuming whatever is left of our humanity.”
