The WordPress Team Announces A New Executive Director.
(VOR News) – Matt Mullenweg, CEO of Automattic and one of the co-creators of WordPress, issued an announcement on the hiring of a new Executive Director for WordPress.org after the departure of the previous director.
This announcement was made in anticipation of the departure of the director who had been in charge previously. The announcement that was made was made possible as a result of the departure of the previous director.
On the other hand, the number of comments was rather low, and the majority of the remarks were on the controversy that has been surrounding WordPress that has been going on recently.
However, the number of comments was rather low, despite the fact that the majority of the answers on social media were positive.
WordPress Executive Director positions are new, so it’s important to note
Mullenweg informed the general public that Mary Hubbard had been hired to take over the post of Executive Director.
This information was shared with the broader public. The 21st of October is the date that Hubbard is anticipated to begin her new role, according to the assumptions that are now in place. Over the course of the years leading up to it, she had been employed by WordPress.com in the capacity of Chief Product Officer beginning in the year 2020.
The decision that she has made to resign from her role as Head of Governance and Experience was recently communicated to TikTok Americas. She has just now handed in her resignation, which she has submitted.
Given that 8.4% of Automattic’s personnel, which includes the former Executive Director Josepha Haden Chomphosy, has departed the firm, the role of Executive Director at WordPress.org has become vacant. The reason for this is that the previous Executive Director of Automattic had likewise terminated their employment with the company.
The employees were presented with an offer from Mullenweg that was either thirty thousand dollars or the equivalent of six months’ salaries, whichever was bigger.
Following inquiries from individuals who expressed an interest in leaving their current place of employment, this offer was extended to them.
In light of the recent issues that took place between Automattic, Mullenweg, and WP Engine (WPE), which resulted in WPE bringing a federal lawsuit against Mullenweg and Automattic, alleging that they sought to extort money from WPE, the severance package was made available to the persons who were involved in the dispute.
This transpired in the immediate aftermath of the recent arguments that took place between Automattic, Mullenweg, and WPE who were all involved in the dispute.
On the surface, it seems like no one responded to the news.
A post that was published in the well-known Dynamic WordPress Facebook Group garnered twenty-one responses from members of the group within the span of seven hours after it was initially written at the time of its publication.
This is the site where you will be able to observe the discussion; however, in order to do so, you will be required to become a member of the private group.
As well as other issues that were relevant to the controversy that they were debating, a substantial percentage of the comments were involved in a conversation addressing the continuing disagreement and the Mullenwegs’ ownership of WordPress.org. In addition, they discussed other things that were not related to the controversy.
The formal statement that WordPress.org issued on X was met with a tepid greeting, with roughly the same number of people posting welcomes as those who were taking advantage of the chance to submit their expressions of discontent and opinions over recent events at the same time. This indicates that the reception was not very positive.
Within seven hours of the statement being put on Twitter, there were just fifteen persons who left comments in response to it. In addition to the one hundred seventy-seven individuals who liked it, twenty-one people retweeted it themselves.
