The Thai government has stated that it would begin registering recipients of the digital wallet scheme on Thursday (August 1).
Smartphone users can register beginning at 8 a.m. on Wednesday using the government application “Thang Rat,” according to Chai Watcharong, a spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office.
“It will be the first day of the opening of registration and identity verification for the digital wallet scheme, and after that the registration can be done 24 hours,” according to him.
Important Dates and Locations for Digital Wallet Registration
Meanwhile, people without smartphones can register for the next round, which takes place from September 16 to October 15. The government will announce the places later. To spend the 10,000 baht handout, an individual must present an ID card and verify their eligibility through the house registry.
To ensure that the government is ready to facilitate public registration, the spokesperson stated that it has collaborated with the Digital Economy and Society Ministry, the Finance Ministry, and other relevant agencies to establish 5,199 walk-in service points throughout the country to assist with registration and enquiries.
The walk-in servicing stations will be open from August 1 until September 15.
During business hours, staff will be available to assist individuals with cellphones who need help enrolling at the following locations:
- 1,722 Community Digital Centres
- 1,200 post offices (excluding licensed post offices (private) and service stores).
- There are 1,047 government savings banks nationwide.
- There are 1,238 agricultural cooperatives and banks.
