Huawei Launches 5G-A Pioneers Program at MWC Shanghai 2024: Paving the Way for a Connected Future

On June 27, 2024, Huawei held the Global Launch of the 5G-A Pioneers Program at MWC Shanghai. The “driving shared success with 5G-A” event brought together pioneering 5G operators from around the world, including China’s “big three” as well as HKT, du, and Oman Telecommunications.

At the event, they talked about how to accelerate high-quality development of 5G-A networks and how to capitalize on opportunities in the emerging intelligent world to generate new market space for growth.

5G is the fastest-developing generation of mobile communications technology we have ever seen. The first operators to implement 5G have all experienced phased business success.

The first 5G-Advanced standards version, 3GPP version-18, was also officially locked on June 28, 2024, in Shanghai. This is a significant milestone for the 5G industry, as 2024 will be the first year of commercial 5G-A deployment.

David Wang, Huawei’s Executive Director of the Board and Chairman of the ICT Infrastructure Managing Board, gave a keynote address at the event titled “5G-A: Paving the Way for Shared Success”.

In his remarks, he stated that “5G-A will be the path forward.” It will protect existing investments while opening up new business opportunities by broadening commercial limits. As we look ahead to 2030, the industry as a whole will need to step up efforts to strengthen 5G-A technologies and promote the healthy development of 5G.

Third, Huawei and its operator partners jointly unveiled the 5G-A Pioneers Program and the six particular agreements signed during the launch event.

These agreements will maximize the value of advanced 5G-A capabilities, encourage 5G-A development, and propel the industry forward by fostering Pioneer Operators, Pioneer Cities, Business Model Upgrade, High-quality Networks, Service Innovation, and Thriving Ecosystems.

Huawei will continue to support operators’ innovation efforts in networks, services, and ecosystems as they strive for differentiated competitiveness in the 5G-A era. Their ultimate goal is to foster high-quality industry development while also enabling digital and intelligent transformation for a better and more intelligent future.

MWC Shanghai 2024 will take place from June 26 to June 28 in Shanghai, China. During the event, Huawei will display its most recent products and solutions at stands E10 and E50 in Hall N1 of the Shanghai New International Expo Centre.

The first year of commercial 5G-A will be in 2024, and F5G-A gigabit optical network deployment has already started. Synergies between networks, clouds, and intelligence are expected to result in pervasive intelligent applications and increasingly diversified user experiences.
