LONDON — Taylor Swift’s historic Eras Tour returned triumphantly to London on Thursday night, supported by Ed Sheeran.

He joined the headliner on stage at Wembley Stadium for the acoustic part, performing two of their collaborations, “Everything Has Changed” and “Endgame,” before a rendition of Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud.”

Taylor teased the audience before his debut, eliciting wild screams from an audience already singing, dancing, and doing heart hands throughout the performance.

Sheeran’s performance was one of the highlights of the beautifully honed stage spectacle and musical celebration of Swift’s career thus far.

It’s been a difficult few weeks for the singer and tour.

Three teenage admirers in Southport, northern England, were killed by an attacker at a Swift-themed dancing class, leaving hearts broken.

Fear spread after a failed attack on her concert venue in Austria when three Islamic State-inspired radicals were apprehended by police.

The Eras Tour’s August gigs in Vienna were canceled, so Thursday’s Wembley event marked the group’s return to the stage. Swift addressed neither on stage, beginning with an “Oh hello London” and admitting her “mind went blank” when she initially greeted the audience, which she compared to a “love system overload.”

She congratulated the 92,000-strong audience for making the effort to attend, which had resulted in heightened security.

Swift has four more gigs at Wembley Stadium, making it a record-breaking solo stay at the facility and completing the European leg of The Eras Tour.

It picks up again in Toronto in November.

Swift’s fans’ enthusiasm, combined with a list of more than 40 songs from across her career, has helped make the Eras Tour the highest-grossing tour of all time.

According to Pollstar, which gathers data on the live music industry, ticket sales totaled more than $1 billion last year.

The tour is anticipated to raise that figure to more than $2 billion before concluding later this year in Indianapolis.

Cancelled tour! The move comes after videos emerged of Farrell lunging at Navarro during a Friday concert in Boston, hitting him with his shoulder before swinging at the guitarist with his right arm. Navarro is seen extending his right arm to keep Farrell away before he is hauled away by others on stage. The show ended soon after, and the band apologised.

The band is most known for the edgy, punk-inspired singles “Jane Says,” “Been Caught Stealing,” and “Just Because” from the late 1980s and early 1990s, when the alternative rock and grunge music movements were emerging. It had three Top 5 hits on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay list.

“Perry’s frustration had been mounting, night after night, he felt that the stage volume had been extremely loud and his voice was being drowned out by the band,” Etty Lau Farrell, Farrell’s wife, wrote in an Instagram post Saturday morning.

She stated that her husband had tinnitus and a sore throat, and “by the end of the song, he wasn’t singing, he was screaming just to be heard.” She stated that her spouse later broke down “and cried and cried.”

The band’s “Imminent Redemption” tour, which featured opening act English rock band Love and Rockets, began in early August and was scheduled to end on October 16 at the YouTube Theatre in Los Angeles.

The North American gigs were the first time the original Jane’s Addiction lineup — Farrell, Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins, and bassist Eric Avery — had performed together for a prolonged period of time since 2010.

Dave Grohl, the frontman of the Foo Fighters, has disclosed that he has become the father of a baby girl who was delivered outside of his marriage to his wife Jordyn Blum whom he married in 2003. Grohl has three daughters with Jordyn.

Dave Grohl expressed his intention to be a “loving and supportive parent” to his new daughter in an Instagram post.

According to USA Today, Blum and Dave Grohl made a rare public appearance in July at the Wimbledon Championships in London.

When British rock band Oasis announced a reunion tour this week, there was an expected rush for tickets to the 17 shows. Perhaps predictably, there have been concerns and frustrations about the ticket-buying process due to high demand.

Tickets went on general sale on Saturday at 9 a.m. GMT, and it took a little while for social media users to start complaining about inflated prices, long wait times, and error warnings from ticketing company Ticketmaster.

“‘In demand standing ticket’ is just a standard standing ticket except double the price,” Darragh Moriarty, a Dublin city councilor, wrote on X (previously known as Twitter).

Moriarty also shared a screenshot in his article displaying an In Demand Standing Ticket with fees priced at €415.50 ($459.61).

“To clarify, Ticketmaster does not set ticket prices,” a spokeswoman told CNN on Saturday.

Ticketmaster’s official website states: “Promoters and artists set ticket prices.” Prices may be fixed or market-based. Market-based tickets are identified as ‘Platinum’ or ‘In Demand.'”

Stephen Lowell of London stated on X that he had waited five hours for tickets only to receive the notification, “Your session has been suspended.”

“The website did not crash,” a Ticketmaster official told CNN on Saturday.

Oasis will begin their tour on July 4 with performances in Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin. Ticketmaster’s website states that the tour “will be one of the biggest live moments and hottest tickets of the decade.”

A presale went live for those who got an email confirming their access. Oasis warned on its Instagram page that tickets would “be allocated on a first come, first served basis” and that “success in the ballot will not guarantee tickets.”

Buyers have frequently expressed dissatisfaction with purchasing tickets for large concert events. In November 2022, Ticketmaster and its parent firm, Live Nation Entertainment, faced public scrutiny for how they handled the enormously popular Taylor Swift Eras Tour.
