Taylor Swift has finally released “1989 (Taylor’s Version),” a song straight out of your “wildest dreams.”
The album, originally recorded and published in 2014, was reissued at midnight on Friday, marking her fourth re-recorded offering since her former label sold the master recordings to her first six albums in 2019.
“I was born in 1989, reinvented for the first time in 2014, and a part of me was reclaimed in 2023 with the re-release of this album I love so dearly,” Swift wrote in an Instagram post. She added, “I present to you, with gratitude and wonder, my version of 1989.”
Taylor also issued a “Deluxe Edition” of the album, which contains a re-recorded “Bad Blood” remix featuring rapper Kendrick Lamar, who had previously appeared on the smash song’s 2014 remix.
Swift also said in an Instagram post on Friday that re-recording “Bad Blood” with Lamar was “one of the most inspiring experiences of my life.”
Taylor Swift has finally released “1989 (Taylor’s Version),” a song straight out of your “wildest dreams.”
“The reality that Kendrick would go back in and re-record Bad Blood so that I could reclaim and own this work I’m so proud of is surreal and bewildering to me,” she said.
The CD features five previously unreleased songs titled “S—,” “Don’t Say Go,” “Now That We Don’t Talk,” “Suburban Legends,” and “Is It Over Now?” that she has published with each “Taylor’s Version” album.
Swift said during one of her “Eras Tour” gigs in August that “1989” would be her next re-recorded album release. Swift stated on social media at the time of her announcement that the collection was her “most favourite re-record” due to the “insane” vault recordings.
“1989 (Taylor’s Version),” arguably Swift’s most popular album, has re-recorded versions of smash songs “Shake It Off,” “Bad Blood,” and “Blank Space,” all of which achieved No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.
Swift’s album is often regarded as her first to fall completely into the pop genre, following a string of country-pop albums.
“1989” received ten Grammy nominations in 2016, with Swift winning three awards for Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Music Video.”
Taylor has released “Taylor’s Version” albums for “Red,” “Speak Now,” and “Fearless,” in addition to “1989,” since announcing in 2019 that she intends to re-record her first six albums.
The singer is likely to re-record 2017’s “Reputation” album, as well as her 2006 self-titled debut album “Taylor Swift.”
