Snoop Dogg: I’ve Decided To Give Up Smoke
Snoop Dogg, who has developed a public persona for his heavy marijuana use, has announced that he is quitting smoking.
Calvin Broadus, the hip-hop artist’s true name, announced the surprise on social media.
“I’ve decided to quit smoking after much thought and discussion with my family.” Please keep my privacy in mind now,” he wrote on Instagram and X.
He didn’t say what kind of smoking he was quitting or whether he was sincere.
Some admirers suspected the post was a publicity trick for his cannabis brand, Leafs By Snoop.
Others expressed their surprise.
“Today isn’t April Fools’ Day, Snoop,” one of them said.

“Snoop without smoke is like earth without water,” another person commented.
Ro Marley, Bob Marley’s son, stated, “No more BBQ at uncle’s… the grill is off for the season.”
Snoop’s marijuana use has been extensively publicized in his music and interviews.
The 52-year-old rapper made his debut on Dr. Dre’s 1992 album The Chronic, the title of which is a slang term for high-quality marijuana.
His lyrics have made numerous references to the habit throughout the years.
“We’re gon’ smoke an ounce to this,” he rapped on his debut solo tune, Gin And Juice. The Next Episode, a Dr. Dre collaboration that launched the Super Bowl half-time show in 2022, included the observation: “Smoke weed every day.”
In an interview with GQ magazine in 2013, the artist said that he smoked 80 cannabis joints every day.
Two years later, he started Leafs By Snoop. The company is known for producing its cannabis strains, extracts, flowers, and edibles.
Some followers speculated that the star’s apparent decision to retire was motivated by health concerns.
“I had a pulmonary embolism last year and had to give up smoking as well,” one Instagram user commented.

Another fan claimed on X that Snoop was not completely off the drug.
“He’s shifting to edibles, allowing his lungs to rest a little.” Champ, eat up.”
According to Frank, the UK’s anti-drug guidance agency, excessive marijuana use can increase the risk of lung cancer.
