‘Saturday Night Live’ Star Kenan Thompson Skewers Project 2025, Talks To Americans Who Could Be Affected At The DNC

On Wednesday night, Kenan Thompson of “Saturday Night Live” mocked the conservative Project 2025 and spoke with Americans who could be harmed by its recommendations while on stage at the Democratic National Convention.

Thompson went onto the platform, holding a big prop book that seemed to be the conservative Project 2025, a 920-page volume.

“Have you ever seen a document capable of killing a little animal while also promoting democracy? Here it is,” Thompson replied, eliciting chuckles from the audience. He also described the memo as “the terms and conditions of a second Trump presidency.”

He then interviewed Americans via video who could be impacted by proposed Project 2025 plans, which were organized by The Heritage Foundation think tank and produced largely by people who worked in Trump’s administration.

After some technological difficulties, Thompson chatted via video with Becky, who stated that she has been with her wife for “about 8 years.”

Thompson claimed he had “bad news” for Becky, pointing to a section of Project 2025 that “calls for the elimination of protections for LGBTQ+ Americans.” He went on to say that the policy is like going “right back to the Stone Age.”

He then chatted with Nirvana, who uses insulin to treat her diabetes. Nirvana stated that thanks to President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, she only spends $35 per month on her insulin.

“That is great,” Thompson remarked, but then struck that down as well, citing another page of Project 2025 that called for millions of people to “pay more for prescription drugs like insulin.”

Then there’s Anita, an OBGYN who “delivers babies and does surgery.”

“Uh oh,” Thompson replied. “On page 459, Projects 2025 resurrects a law from the 1800s called the Comstock Act to ban abortion nationwide and throw healthcare providers in jail.”

“That is awful,” Anita said.

Finally, Thompson spoke with a “proud civil servant” from the Department of Education.

“Well, unfortunately for you, on page 78, Project 2025 calls for President Trump to purge the civil service of everyone who isn’t a Maga loyalist,” Thompson told you. He also cited another excerpt from the text, which “calls for the complete elimination of the Department of Education.”

Thompson concluded his talk by assuring attendees that everything they discussed “is very real” and “in this book.”

“Most importantly you can stop it from ever happening by electing Kamala Harris as the next President of the United States.”

Former President Donald Trump has consistently distanced himself from Project 2025. In a social media post, Trump stated, “I know nothing about Project 2025.”

On Wednesday night, other renowned faces on the DNC stage included Stevie Wonder, who performed “Higher Ground,” and Mindy Kaling, the evening’s host.
