Bryan Randall, Sandra Bullock’s boyfriend of eight years, has died.
According to his family, Bryan died after a three-year fight with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), popularly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. He was 57.
“It is with great sadness that we share that on Aug. 5, Bryan Randall passed away peacefully after a three-year battle with ALS,” they stated. “Bryan chose early on to keep his journey with ALS private, and those of us who cared for him did our best to honour his request.”
“We are immensely grateful to the tireless doctors who navigated the landscape of this illness with us and to the astounding nurses who became our roommates, often sacrificing their own families to be with ours,” the statement added.
His family requested solitude to “grieve and come to terms with the impossibility of saying goodbye to Bryan.”
Sandra Bullock, 59, and Bryan were originally linked in 2015, shortly after she hired him to photograph her son Louis’ fifth birthday celebration. Bryan had “officially moved in” with the Miss Congeniality star by the following year, according to an E! News source, after she adopted her second child, daughter Laila.
“When I met him, we hadn’t been together long, and I said, ‘Remember that NDA you signed when you photographed my son?'” Sandra Bullock remembered telling Bryan during a Red Table Talk appearance in 2021. “You know that’s still true…because I’m bringing a child home from Toronto.”

The Oscar winner explained how the artist had lived out of the public eye before their connection, saying that his “whole life had been unravelled because of me.”
“He was so happy, but he was so scared,” she remembered. “My name is Bulldozer. My life was already on course, and here comes this wonderful human being who doesn’t want to be a part of it, but [is] the proper human being to be there.”
Sandra Bullock described her then-partner, Bryan, as a “very patient” man and “a saint,” saying he “evolved on a level that is not human” and swiftly stepped up as a father figure for Louis, 13, and Laila, 11.
“He’s the role model I’d like my children to follow,” she added. “I don’t always agree with him, and he doesn’t always agree with me, but he serves as an example even when I disagree with him.”
Sandra named Bryan “the love of my life” in the same interview, but she clarified that the two had no plans to marry. She said, “I don’t need a paper to be a devoted partner and mother.”
“I am someone who went through the divorce process,” Sandra Bullock, who was married to West Coast Choppers founder Jesse James from 2005 until 2010, revealed. “I don’t need to be reminded to be present even in the darkest times.” I don’t need to be reminded that I should ride out a storm with a wonderful man.”
“Would you both be great parents to those children even if you didn’t make it as a couple?” she said. Consider the children first.”
