Robert De Niro’s Girlfriend Tiffany Chen Diagnosed With Bell’s Palsy After Welcoming Baby Girl
Robert Tiffany Chen’s postpartum experience took an unexpected and frightening turn.
The martial arts instructor gave birth to her and boyfriend Robert De Niro’s first child, a baby girl named Gia, in April. Even though it was a happy occasion, Tiffany’s health began to deteriorate swiftly.
“When I got home, my tongue felt strange,” Tiffany explained to Gayle King in an interview footage aired on CBS Mornings on July 13. “It felt tingly like I was just starting to go numb.” And then I realized…my face just felt strange.”
“It was just like everything was starting to fall down on itself,” the 45-year-old recalled. “It was as if my face was melting in on itself.”
Tiffany couldn’t eat and began slurring her words a week after giving baby, causing her to seek medical assistance.
In May, Robert revealed the birth of his seventh kid, telling ET Canada, “I just had a baby.”
“I said, ‘There’s something really going on here,'” she explained. Tiffany, who was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy, a disorder affecting the facial muscles, persisted. “I lost all facial function the minute I got into the hospital.”
Tiffany will discuss her health journey in further detail when her interview with Gayle is on July 14.
