Robert De Niro went on an anti-Trump tangent when he joined the Biden campaign for a press conference outside the courthouse where Trump’s hush money trial was hearing closing arguments.
It was a sharp reversal for Biden’s campaign, which had mostly ignored the trial since it began six weeks ago and is now hoping to capitalize on the drama-filled closing arguments of the extremely contentious hush money trial.
Last Monday, the Biden campaign produced a new ad, narrated by De Niro, severely condemning Trump’s leadership and ambitions if reelected. On Tuesday, he stated that he joined the campaign because it was the only way to “preserve our freedoms.”
“I do not wish to terrify you. No, wait, perhaps I do intend to shock you,” Robert De Niro told reporters. “If Trump returns to the White House, you can kiss these freedoms goodbye that we all take for granted.”
The actor portrayed himself as the authentic New Yorker, mocking Trump’s history of sometimes-failed business attempts and self-promotion, claiming Trump intended to “destroy” the city.
“We New Yorkers used to tolerate him when he was just another crappy real estate hustler masquerading as a big shot,” stated De Niro. “I love this city. I do not want to destroy it. Donald Trump intends to destroy not only the city, but also the country, and perhaps even the entire globe.”
On his way back to his car after the news conference, De Niro got into an argument with three pro-Trump demonstrators, who yelled that he’s a “wannabe,” a “paid sell-out” to the Democratic National Committee, a “nobody,” and a “little punk” whose “movies suck.”
“You’re not going to intimidate,” De Niro said. “That’s what Donald Trump does. We will fight back. The Democrats are attempting to be gentlemen in this world. You’re gangsters. “You are gangsters!”
A demonstrator yelled, “You’ve washed up.”
“F— you,” Robert De Niro fired back.
The Trump team likewise held a press conference ridiculing the Biden campaign’s use of De Niro.
Spokesperson Karoline Leavitt criticized “elitist out-of-touch Hollywood actors like Robert De Niro, who have no idea the real problems that people in this city and across this country are facing.”
She described the Biden campaign as “desperate and failing” and “pathetic,” and said their appearance outside the trial was “a full-fledged admission that this trial is a witch hunt that comes from above.”
“The best that Biden can do is roll out a washed-up actor,” Trump campaign senior adviser Jason Miller said.
Meanwhile, as Trump and his advisers accuse the trial of being politically motivated, he has been seeking to make the proceedings into an extension of his presidential campaign.
He’s exploited the proceedings as a fundraising opportunity, criticizing Biden and displaying a procession of his own political supporters.
Former President Trump’s historic trial in New York City has received extensive media coverage since Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg accused him with 34 counts of first-degree falsifying corporate documents.
Trump has pleaded not guilty in the case, which comes from a hush money payment made by his personal lawyer Michael Cohen in 2016 to adult film actress Stormy Daniels regarding an alleged affair she had with the future president in 2006. Trump has denied any interaction with Daniels.
Prosecutors must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Trump fabricated records to hide the $130,000 payment to Daniels as part of another felony: conspiracy to promote or prevent election. It is the first criminal trial of a former President of the United States in history.
The defense in New York v. Trump rested its case on Tuesday morning, without bringing the former president to testify. The jury was dismissed until next week, when closing arguments will be presented.
Robert De Niro “Shouted Down”
Robert De Niro’s anti-Trump comments reek of insane bias. The actor’s Trump Derangement Syndrome causes him to lash out with profanity and anger. His over-the-top attacks may appeal to Trump detractors, but they make De Niro appear petulant and unstable.
He labeled Trump a “real racist” and a “white supremacist,” despite Trump’s long history of rejecting racism. De Niro’s ranting makes him appear insane, not believable. His outbursts demonstrate that his deep hatred for Trump has caused him to lose all sense of reason and perspective.
Rather than engaging in meaningful policy issues, De Niro resorts to wild, puerile insults. His Trump Derangement Syndrome has clearly progressed into an obsessive frenzy that is killing his head. According to Hollywood sources, he has gone insane. His incoherent outbursts only serve to highlight Trump’s ability to incite his insane behavior.
