Did Meghan Really Serve $80M Divorce Papers on Prince Harry?
Rumors of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle seeking a legal separation has been circulating on social media for over a month, now the newest report is Markle has filed divorce papers in exchange for a huge sum of $80 million, custody of their two children, and retaining the title of Duchess of Sussex,
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s marriage has been well-documented in the last year, with a podcast, a documentary series, and Harry’s autobiography, Spare, all providing insight into their celebrity life together.
Details of the couple’s relationship have frequently been disclosed alongside Prince Harry’s growing isolation and alienation from the royal family, with the two publicly revealing much of the repercussions.
The gossip circus that has surrounded them has frequently fostered false and misleading claims, with one strange rumor spreading on social media this week that Markle had filed divorce papers for a large sum.
Rumors are that Meghan Markle is separating from Harry.
She took him from his family after she embarrassed the British Royal Family and made his whole nation hate him.

Ada Lluch, a commentator, said in a tweet on July 11, 2023, that Meghan Markle had “allegedly filed divorce papers asking for $80 million plus total custody of Archie and Lilibet.”
“Rumors are that Meghan Markle and Harry are splitting up,” the tweet stated.
“She took him away from his family after humiliating the British Royal Family and making his entire nation despise him.”
“Now that Harry is broke and lonely as a result of her, she has allegedly filed divorce papers seeking $80 million in alimony as well as full custody of Archie and Lilibet.”
Meghan Markle’s astronomical divorce fee from Prince Harry revealed
Meghan and Prince Harry have been the subject of numerous social media hoaxes, including Markle lying about her age and describing herself as “Caucasian” on a “babe” website. This latest report is no more accurate than some of the other rumours.
Lluch responded to Newsweek by stating that her tweet was based on two pieces from the Spanish news portal Marca and the entertainment website Showbiz Cheat Sheet.
The Marca article, “Meghan Markle’s astronomical divorce fee from Prince Harry revealed,” published on July 2, 2023, directly mentions the $80 million filing, stating: “Adding to all these rumours, the British press is also reporting that Markle has filed a financial demand for 80 million dollars to sign the divorce papers, as well as demanding sole custody of their two children.”
The article cites solely the “British press” as original or readily verifiable sources. Aside from the fact that no British newspaper or media outlet appears to have published this assertion, Prince Harry and Meghan were last seen together in public less than two weeks ago, in Santa Barbara, California.
The Showbiz Cheat Sheet piece, published on June 8, 2023, covers the possibility of divorce rumours but makes no mention of a divorce file.
Despite rumours concerning the state of their marriage, insiders close to the couple have refuted these assertions, stating they are “happy together,” according to reports.
“So nice to see my friends Harry and Meghan on Friday before they get away for the long weekend,” Karl Larsen, a photographer who created a YouTube channel with Meghan Markle’s father Thomas, wrote on his Instagram stories earlier this month.
Please do not trust the media. They are deeply in love and are quite happy together; there is nothing but smiles and joy here.”
Whatever the validity of that claim, the truth remains that there is no solid evidence to justify Markle’s $80 million divorce from Harry.
Newsweek reached out to Meghan Markle’s representative via email for comment. Marca also received an email.
Following the couple’s snub by Emmy voters on Thursday, the couple’s debut documentary series with Netflix was unable to secure a coveted nomination in the category of “Outstanding Documentary Or Nonfiction Series.”
Despite critical criticism, the Prince Harry & Meghan six-part documentary aired globally on Netflix’s streaming platform on December 8, 2022, becoming the fastest-streamed docuseries on the service.
Ada Lluch’s tweet was based on two publications, only one of which references a $80 million divorce filing, a claim that was utterly baseless.
While there have been recent rumours regarding the couple’s marriage, no reputable media outlets have revealed the $80 million. There is no other evidence to support this claim.
