One Life to Live Star Andrea Evans Dead at 66
The world of soap operas has lost a bright light.
Andrea Evans, whose credits include One Life to Live, The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, and Passions, died on July 9 after a “brave” fight with cancer, according to her manager Nick Leicht. She was 66 years old.
“I’ve been working with Andrea for the past 7 years,” Leicht explained. “She was such a tremendous talent and an absolute joy to work with.”
Clint Morris, Evan’s publicist, added in a separate statement, “Sadly, Andrea has indeed sadly left us.”
“She was an incredible talent, but more than that, she was a wonderful person—always putting family before anything else,” Morris concluded. “However, another angel was required.”
Evans became prominent in 1978 as Tina Lord on One Life to Live. Evans returned to the ABC hit in 1985 after a brief reprise with Kelli Maroney and Marsha Clark and was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for her performance in 1988.
The actress left the series again in the 1990s, subsequently saying she was forced to leave the spotlight owing to a stalker.
“It’s forever changed me,” she admitted to People in 2008. “There’s no way it could not.”
Evans also portrayed Patti Weaver on The Young and the Restless, Tawny Moore on The Bold and the Beautiful, Rebecca Hotchkiss on Passions, and Patty Walker on The Bay. She was also in the films A Low Down Dirty Shame, Ice Cream Man, and Hit List.

She was nominated for a Daytime Emmy in 2015 for her role as Vivian Price in the web series DeVanity.
According to her management, Evans finished her upcoming memoir My One Life to Live soon before her death. Her husband, Steve Rodriguez, daughter Kylie, and dog Mila survive her.
“Andrea was a remarkable individual, cherished by all who knew her,” Rodriguez stated in an E! News statement following Evans’ death. “Throughout her fearless fight against this relentless disease, her unwavering strength, positivity, and indomitable spirit inspired us every step of the way.” She tackled the difficulties with grace, resilience, and an unwavering love of life.”
Meanwhile, their daughter described her father’s passing as “an immeasurable loss.”
“At just 19 years old, my world has been forever changed, and words cannot adequately convey the depth of my sadness,” Kylie added. “Throughout her cancer battle, my mother demonstrated incredible strength.” She overcame each obstacle with grace and determination, savoring every beautiful minute. Despite the anguish and uncertainty, she taught me the crucial lesson of finding joy even in difficult circumstances. We stayed together to the very end.”
According to her former manager Don Carroll, Evans’s favorite job was that of a mother. “People frequently assume she must be very similar to the characters she played on television,” Carroll added. “In reality, her best days were spent at Disneyland with her daughter Kylie, wearing no makeup, her hair in pigtails, and a ballcap on her head.”
