Oklahoma’s dairy herd has Bird Flu, indicating a Largest Outbreak in the US.

(VOR News) – On Monday, the United States Department of Agriculture revealed that Oklahoma has become the twelfth Bird Flu state in the United States to identify bird flu in dairy cows.

This news came as a result of the state’s recent discovery of the disease. The state, on the other hand, has said that the sickness occurred sometime in the past few months.

Evidence reveals that the epidemic was more widespread than authorities in the United States had believed it to be. This was revealed after the virus was discovered for the first time in dairy cattle at the end of March.

There have been more than 150 dairy herds around the country that have been identified to have the Bird Flu over the course of the past few days.

In addition to infecting poultry and a wide Bird Flu variety of mammalian species, the cases that have been reported are also part of this outbreak.

There have been four dairy workers who have tested positive for the presence of the virus this year. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States of America have determined that the danger to the general public is still regarded to be minimal.

According to Lee Benson, a spokesman for the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food, and Forestry, the positive sample was collected by a dairy farming enterprise in the state of Oklahoma in the month of April.

At the time, the dairy had a hunch that its herd might have been infected with the disease. After the dairy farm found out that it might be qualified for financial assistance to compensate for missing milk production due to Bird Flu, it recently informed the USDA that it had provided samples that had been preserved for testing.

This followed the farm’s discovery that it might be eligible for financial assistance.

Because the Bird Flu United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) wants to encourage farmers to test their herds and report infections, it has launched a program that will compensate farmers who have sick cows for ninety percent of the milk production that was lost per cow.

The state has confirmed four cases of bird flu among poultry workers, according to a statement that was made by the state’s health officials on Sunday. The state is currently investigating the status of a fifth suspected situation, which is currently waiting to be determined.
