Nightsleeper, an upcoming hijack thriller on BBC One, will premiere next month and features a frightening first trailer.
The new drama stars Joe Cole from Gangs of London as off-duty police officer Joe Roag, who is on a sleeper train between Glasgow and London when it is electronically controlled or ‘hackjacked’.
He must collaborate with Abby Aysgarth (Alexandra Roach), a director of the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre, to stop the train before it reaches its destination.
The BBC has set a September 15 premiere date, beginning at 6am on BBC iPlayer and airing on BBC One on Sunday and Monday nights from 9pm for three weeks.
The first trailer has now been released, providing a taste of the excitement to come as the characters race against time to stop the train.
“This train is now a guided missile,” a voice says, as Abby suspects that one of the people on board is cooperating with the hackers. “Don’t trust anyone.”
The cast of the series includes Cole’s Gangs of London co-star Parth Thakerar, Katie Leung from Harry Potter, Leah MacRae from Baby Reindeer, Ruth Madeley from Years and Years, James Cosmo from Game of Thrones, and Sharon Small from The Bay.
The cast also includes Alex Ferns from The Devil’s Hour, David Threlfall from Shameless, Daniel Cahill from The Control Room, Lois Chimimba from Vigil, Gabriel Howell from The Fence, Adam Mitchell from Mother’s Day, Pamela Nomvete from Andor, Scott Reid from Maxine, and Sharon Rooney from Barbie.
Nightsleeper was written by Nick Leather, who previously stated about the series: “It’s a joy to be able to write for this cast of some of the finest acting talent in the UK today – our train is a real rollercoaster, a white-knuckle trip through the heart of Britain, and I’m delighted to have them join us for the ride.”
Nightsleeper will air on BBC One at 9 p.m. and BBC iPlayer at 6 a.m. on Sunday, September 15.
