NFL Warns Teams That Fighting Won’t Be Tolerated And Penalties Will Strictly Enforced
The NFL has warned fights between teams that they may incur severe penalties, including disqualification.
The league stated in a memo from The Associated Press that was sent to clubs on Wednesday that “fighting is never acceptable” and intends to “strictly enforce” its game-day policies.
Punishments may consist of disqualification, hefty fines, or unpaid suspension.
Following two pregame altercations that caused disruptions during last week’s Cowboys-Chargers and 49ers-Browns contests, the league is implementing stricter regulations on fighting.
The NFL has warned that fights between teams may incur severe penalties, including disqualification.
The previous week, no athletes were disciplined for their pregame conduct.
Additionally, the memorandum underscored three crucial aspects:
- Teams are required to limber up within their 45-yard line.
- Pregame actions may result in the disqualification of players or club personnel.
- Post-game disciplinary action for pregame actions may be determined through video analysis.
The league stated in the memo, “Sportsmanship and respect are fundamental to NFL football; fighting is incompatible with these values.”
