(VOR News) – Scott Turner will take over as housing secretary, it was announced on Wednesday. At a time when most Americans are worried about the rising cost of living and how it affects necessities, it is a crucial component of President Donald Trump’s domestic agenda.

A crucial component of the domestic agenda is this stance. By a vote of 55-44, the Texas politician, former NFL star, and top White House advisor was approved. Only two Democratic senators, Peter Welch of Vermont and John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, backed Scott Turner.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development is in charge of ensuring that federal housing regulations are followed and coordinating their implementation. Most of the money for housing assistance programs for low-income families, the elderly, and the disabled goes to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Scott Turner funding is also included in the HUD budget.

The agency will tackle a wide range of issues, such as rising housing costs, fostering economic growth in underdeveloped areas, and lowering homelessness, especially among veterans.

Turner would succeed former Representative Jack Kemp, who held the position during the Bush administration, as the second professional football player to serve as president of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Unlike Ben Carson, who was Secretary of Housing and Urban Development during his first term in office.

Scott Turner is the only African American in the current administration’s Cabinet. What set Carson apart was that he was the only African American in the group.

During his campaign, Trump promised to lower housing costs by enforcing a mass deportation of undocumented immigrants. He also supported the idea of building future “freedom cities” on land held by the government.

There would be significant overlap between these suggestions and Scott Turner’s portfolio. There are not enough homes being built in our country.

Scott Turner made the statement at his confirmation hearing.

“We need millions of homes, all kinds of homes — multifamily, single family, duplex, condo, manufacturing housing, you name it — we need housing in our country for individuals and families to have a roof over their head and to call home,” said Donald Trump in his inaugural address.

Turner was the Executive Director of the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council during the first term of President Trump’s administration. In the past, he was in charge of overseeing the “opportunity zone” idea, which aims to draw in private capital to areas that are experiencing financial difficulties.

When the program expires in the second half of 2026, participating investors will be able to defer paying taxes on gains made in low-income areas that satisfy the program’s criteria.

The idea was first put up in 2017 as a component of President Trump’s tax reform plan, which South Carolina Republican Senator Tim Scott supported. Turner has stated that he would want to see more activities added to the curriculum.

“After assuming the presidency, Scott Turner acknowledged that this initiative facilitated the establishment of businesses, the acquisition of improved housing, and the attainment of self-sufficiency in underprivileged communities by Americans.”

He emphasized that it facilitated the development of confidence and the realization of one’s complete potential. “I saw how this initiative made a difference.”

The campaign raised $50 billion in private funding for distressed communities under the leadership of Scott Turner, according to Senator John Barrasso, a Republican from Wyoming.

Barrasso attributes their accomplishment to Scott Turner. These interventions resulted in the revitalization of numerous abandoned villages. Currently, he is the most suitable individual to help capitalize on opportunities.
