Powerball Jackpot Jumps to Record $1.9 Billion

After no one won the Powerball drawing on Saturday night, the jackpot grew to an even greater $1.9 billion. The winning numbers were: white balls 28, 45, 53, 56, 69, and red Powerball 20.

Monday night will be the next opportunity for someone to strike it rich.

The new $1.9 billion jackpot will be paid out over 29 years to the winner via an annuity. Lottery jackpot winners typically prefer a flat sum of cash, which would be $929.1 million for Monday’s game.

The Powerball jackpot continues to grow due to no one being able to beat the high odds of 1 in 292.2 million and win the jackpot. Players must match all five white balls and one red Powerball to win the grand prize.

There have been 40 drawings without a winner since someone won the prize on August 3. According to the Multi-State Lottery Association in Clive, Iowa, this matches a record for draws without a winner and a run of drawings last year.

Powerball is available in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.
