Hurricane Oscar Strikes The Bahamas As It Approaches Cuba.

Hurricane

(VOR News) – Hurricane Oscar made landfall in the early hours of Sunday morning in the southeast region of the Bahamas. The hurricane tracked directly to this spot shortly after it came ashore.

The hurricane that was traveling that way had its goal of causing a significant loss of electricity in Cuba, and it had just done it. The island that was most vulnerable to danger in the area was Cuba.

The hurricane’s center made landfall on the island of Great Inagua, according to a warning released by the Miami-based National Center.

The hurricane center provides hurricane information.

The formation of an extremely dangerous storm surge is anticipated to transpire as a consequence of it. This storm surge has the potential to cause catastrophic coastal flooding not only in that area but also in other parts of the Southeastern Bahamas. The likelihood of obtaining precipitation from precipitation is between two and four inches, with some places possibly receiving as much as six inches.

Rainfall in eastern Cuba is expected to range from five to ten inches through Tuesday, with isolated areas perhaps receiving up to fifteen inches. This might indeed happen. This is a possibility that it will happen. The forecast will be used as the foundation for creating this prognosis.

Saturday saw the creation of Oscar off the coast of the Bahamas, encircling the Turks and Caicos islands to the south of the formation. This formation happened close to the Bahamas. Every one of these islands is located in the northern part of the formation.

This is unexpected, even though the National Hurricane Center had previously described the storm as “tiny.” The National Hurricane Center issued hurricane warnings for parts of the southeast Bahamas and Cuba on Sunday. Additionally, these cautions included Cuba.

While the storm’s sustained winds were estimated to reach speeds of up to 130 km/h (80 miles per hour), there were bursts of wind that were noticeably stronger.

Although they were consistently higher than the winds, the winds were still present. The most notable location of the organization was in the vicinity of Guantanamo, Cuba, which was located around 240 kilometers (150 miles) east-northeast of its heart.

Forecasters predicted a tropical storm to hit Guantanamo or Holguin, Cuba, on Sunday afternoon.

It was traveling westerly at a pace of 12 miles per hour (19 kilometers per hour) at the time this report was written. At the time of writing, this was the situation.

To put this into perspective, the biggest devastating blackout to hit Cuba in at least two years occurred last week, depriving millions of Cubans of electricity for two days.

Cuba is currently going through the process of getting over the terrible incident that happened. The hurricane is getting closer to Cuba even as this phrase is being typed. This reality is happening right now. The week prior, on Saturday, there was a partial restoration of the temporally stopped electricity service.

Philippe Papin of the National Hurricane Center was a little taken aback to learn that Oscar had strengthened into a hurricane on Saturday. He has to admit that the way Oscar turned into a hurricane surprised him. In his statement, Papin talked about Oscar’s appearance and said that it was a little unexpected.

And with regret, he said, “Unfortunately, the system managed to sneak up on us a little bit.” He felt quite let down. It was mentioned that he made this admission in his apology. In his message, Papin expressed his regret for the situation that had developed.

Only a few hours have passed since Tropical Storm Nadine started to form, and it is now situated off the coast of Mexico’s southern Caribbean. This event happened about the same time as it did. It finally transformed into a tropical depression as it moved across the terrain because it had crossed land.

“Shocking Video” Vancouver Police Shoot Armed Suspect 10 Times

Vancouver city police shooting
Police officers shot the assailant 10 times at a 7-11 store

Police shot and killed a man after two people were stabbed in downtown Vancouver on Wednesday, the latest incident of violence to jolt the city and raise public safety worries in Canada.

Just after 11:30 a.m., Vancouver City Police responded to a call from restaurant employees near Robson and Hamilton. The caller said that a man had taken booze and was carrying a knife inside the eatery.

When police arrived, they discovered the armed suspect in a nearby 7-Eleven, across from the Vancouver Public Library’s central branch.

According to Vancouver police, the suspect died at the hospital after being shot, and two people had non-life-threatening injuries.

According to witnesses, a man grabbed booze and a knife from a restaurant and then used the weapon across the street to stab people at a 7-Eleven.

Mainul Islam, a part-time delivery worker who was outside the 7-Eleven, filmed the incident and reported seeing a man wielding a knife inside. “It’s a terrible scene,” he remarked.

Islam estimates that officers shot the man ten times.

Islam stated that he had been picking up a food order when he noticed a “homeless guy” attempting to steal cigarettes behind the counter. He stated that staff were attempting to stop the man.

“He pulled a knife from his pocket and attempted to stab a man, but he fled. He then attempted to stab a woman.” Maybe he previously stabbed that lady in the back; I saw blood, but she was fine.”

He told CBC that the police arrived within minutes and “just shot this guy.”

Wednesday’s stabbing fuelled concerns that officials aren’t working fast enough to address crime in the urban centre.

Annette O’Shea, executive director of the Yaletown Business Improvement Association, expressed her optimism that Premier David Eby is “listening and paying attention.”

“I believe the streets of Vancouver and British Columbia require involuntary treatment. I believe this is a sign of politicians waiting too long to act,” she remarked. “The business community has asked for it.

“I believe it is the reason this government has regained power. But they need to go faster,” she remarked, referring to the BC NDP’s narrow victory in the provincial election.

United Healthcare CEO Killed
Police officers take security measures after United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson was gunned down.

Police in New York City have launched a manhunt for a masked suspect who shot and killed United Healthcare CEO in a “brazen, targeted attack”. Brian Thompson was shot and killed outside the Hilton Hotel in Midtown Manhattan.

The 50-year-old father of two was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead minutes after the attack, according to New York City police.

Investigators claimed they did not know why the assailant departed the scene without stealing any of the victim’s things.

New York City police have offered a $10,000 reward.

The attack occurred about 06:45 a.m. in one of Manhattan’s busiest neighbourhoods, near the tourist hotspots of Times Square and Central Park, in an area where gunshots are extremely unusual.

Police drones, helicopters, dogs, and thousands of CCTV cameras have been scanning the city street by street to locate the offender.

According to New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, “Every indication is that this was a premeditated, pre-planned, targeted attack.” The suspect, wearing a black face mask and a cream jacket, appeared to be waiting for Thompson outside the hotel.

The assailant was also caught on security video minutes before the shooting at a Starbucks less than two blocks away.

When Thompson arrived alone on foot at the Hilton, the shooter stepped out from behind a car and shot him in the back.

CCTV Footage of Shooting

According to police sources, the victim stayed at a nearby Marriott hotel. CCTV footage from the attack shows the suspect using a silencer on his weapon while opening fire.

According to NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny, the gun appeared to malfunction, but the suspect rapidly fixed it and continued firing.

Commissioner Tisch said the offender fled the scene on foot before taking an e-bike and riding to Central Park, where he was last seen.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul stated that police had briefed her on the “horrific and targeted” attack.

“Our hearts are with the family and loved ones of Mr Thompson and we are committed to ensuring the perpetrator is brought to justice,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

United Healthcare CEO praised

United Health Group, the parent company of United Healthcare, said it was “deeply saddened and shocked at the passing of our dear friend and colleague”.

The group stated, “Brian was a highly respected colleague and friend to all who worked with him. ”

Thompson, who lived in a Minneapolis suburb, began his work as a certified public accountant.

He started at UnitedHealthcare, the largest private insurer in the United States, in 2004 and was named United Healthcare CEO in 2021. Last year, he earned $10.2 million. In May, a pension fund sued him, alleging fraud and illegal insider trading.

According to a Thompson family statement, “We are heartbroken to learn of Brian’s terrible death.

“Brian was an incredibly loving, generous, talented man who truly lived life to the fullest and touched so many lives.”

UnitedHealth found out later that he’d passed away.

Additionally, they noted that there have been no arrests made and that the investigation is still underway until further notice. This is an extra point of interest that they mentioned.

For the investor day that UnitedHealth Group was going to be holding, the New York Hilton hotel, which is located in the heart of the city, was going to serve as the location for the event. A request for response was addressed to UnitedHealth Group; however, the corporation did not immediately respond to the request for comment that was made that was provided to them.

The corporation did not provide any information regarding the fact that the shooting occurred on the day that was reserved for individuals who had invested in the company.
