Former UFC Champion Mark Coleman In The Hospital After The 59 Year Old SavedHis Parents From A House Fire In Ohio
Toledo, Ohio – Mark Coleman, a UFC Hall of Famer and former champion, was taken to the hospital and was “battling for his life” after rescuing his parents from a house fire in Ohio this week, according to his daughter on Instagram.
His wife reported that her father went into the burning house multiple times and was able to save his mother and father.
Mark stated that her 59-year-old father was in the hospital, “battling for his life after this heroic act.”

“Our father has always been our hero and means the world to us,” Morgan Coleman wrote. He is and will always be a fighter.” He is the strongest and most courageous man I know.”
Coleman’s mother, Connie, wrote on Facebook, “Thank God we are alive” and requested “prayers for Mark.”
A post on X by UFC writer Jonathan Snowden shows extensive damage to the residence.
Coleman, from Fremont, Ohio, became the UFC’s inaugural heavyweight title in 1997, defeating Dan Severn. He won 16 out of 26 fights in his 14-year career and was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2008.

Coleman was an amateur wrestler before his mixed martial arts (MMA) career. He earned the NCAA title at Ohio State in 1988 and appeared in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
His wife wrote in her post that Mark returned inside after bringing out his parents to save a dog, Hammer, from the fire. She stated that Hammer did not survive despite her father’s efforts.
Another of Coleman’s kids, Kenzie, said on Instagram that Hammer’s barking woke her father up.

His wife has set up a gofundme.com page for her father, with a photo of him in a hospital bed attached to monitors and other medical equipment. As of Wednesday afternoon, the website had gathered several thousand dollars toward its claimed goal of $50,000.
