(V.News) – An earthquake measuring magnitude 6 struck Islamabad, Lahore, and other cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
The tremors were felt around 2:20 p.m. today at a depth of 213 kilometers. The Pakistan Meteorological Department reports that the earthquake epicenter was in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan. Punjab’s Sargodha, Khushab, and its surroundings, Mandi Bahauddin, Bhakkar, and Nowshera also trembled after the jolts.

The earthquake was also felt in Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s Muzaffarabad and Neelum valleys, as well as Peshawar, Kohat, Shabqadar, Abbottabad, Lower Dir, Mianwali, Mansehra, Battagram, Kohistan, Deerbala, Dera Ismail Khan, Hangu, Diamir, Parachinar, and Bannu.
“I was seated in my office when the earthquake struck. We were forced to flee the building in an emergency,” Saeed Ur Rehman, age 40, reported to Geo. TV from Lahore.
Pakistan frequently experiences natural catastrophes, including earthquakes, due to its geographical location at the boundary between the Eurasian and Indian tectonic divisions.
