Harry Potter's Miriam Margolyes Hospitalized With Chest Infection

Miriam Margolyes is recovering.

The Harry Potter actor, who played Professor Sprout in the films, revealed that she has been healing from a chest ailment that has lately landed her in the hospital in London.

‘Beloved chums, I’m returning home later today after an s–t yesterday.” Miriam posted on Facebook on May 9th. “Heartfelt thanks to all my wonderful friends who sent messages, as well as the very fine doctors and nurses at the RBHT who put up with me.”

Miriam’s statement comes after she revealed that her discharge from a minor medical operation had been postponed due to her illness.

“I talked too quickly. “Can’t come home yet: I have a chest infection,” the 81-year-old posted on May 8 beside a photo of herself sitting up in a hospital bed, smiling. “Most likely tomorrow.” But at the very least, I’m resting. All the best. Thank you for your kind words.”

Miriam’s statement comes after she revealed that her discharge from a minor medical operation had been postponed due to her illness.

Miriam had revealed the day before that she’d undergone a Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) procedure—”a common procedure that improves blood flow in your heart by replacing an aortic valve that doesn’t open fully,” according to the British Heart Foundation—while thanking those who checked in on her.

“Thanks to my precious friends who thought of me on TAVI DAY,” the Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries actress said beside a hospital selfie on May 7. “I did survive and will most likely remain in The Royal Brompton Hospital until Sunday.” I’m gaining energy, but it’s not exactly me. Miriam also teased her post-surgery intentions as part of her journey to recovery.
