COLORADO —United, Following an argument he claimed to have had with a United Airlines employee about carry-on luggage at the Denver airport last week, comedian and actor Marlon Wayans was issued a citation for disturbing the peace, according to police.
Despite condensing his luggage, Wayans said on Instagram that a gate attendant told him he had too many bags and would have to gate check rather than carry on. Wayans said that his treatment amounted to harassment and that he took his ticket and started boarding the aircraft.
United released a statement in response to inquiries about what had happened, but it did not mention Wayans.
“On Friday, a passenger who had been instructed to gate-check his bag attempted to board the aircraft in Denver by pushing past a United staffer at the jet bridge. The customer did not travel to his destination on United,” it stated.
Wayans claimed to have substituted an American Airlines flight to Kansas City because he preferred it to United’s first-class service. He expressed regret to his Kansas City followers for skipping a show.

Sorry, KC.” In reference to his 2004 film, in which his brother Shawn Wayans also starred, Wayans wrote on Twitter, “I’m going to miss tonight’s gigs due to a United gate agent who presumably loathed white females.
Wayans’ representative, Leslie Sloane, claimed Wayans had a backpack, a small carry-on, and a garment bag with a suit jacket inside it. Wayans put his backpack inside the garment bag, but he was still informed he had to check his luggage on a flight that wasn’t full, Sloane said.
No matter their class, she claimed that Wayans cares about everyone feeling safe and appreciated when they fly.
“He felt none of that,” she affirmed.
Wayans was given a citation stating that he must appear in court on July 11 in Denver.
