MANCHESTER, England – Manchester City winger Oscar Bobb will undergo surgery on Friday after breaking his leg in training and is expected to be sidelined for three to four months, according to manager Pep Guardiola.

“We are so sad for him,” Guardiola said of the 21-year-old Norwegian international, who was set to start the season on the team’s right side. “Not because of his incredible preseason, that doesn’t matter, but because any time there is a long injury.”

City’s Premier League campaign begins on Sunday against Chelsea.

Bobb was impressed with City’s preseason tour of the United States, and he played virtually the entire match in Saturday’s Community Shield penalty shootout victory over Manchester United.

Guardiola said that defensive midfielder Rodri would not play against Chelsea after returning late to preseason training following the European Championship.
