Kevin Costner announced his departure from the smash show “Yellowstone” only days after addressing what it would take to bring him back.
The star announced in a video posted on Instagram.

“I just want to reach out and let you know that after this long year and a half of working on Horizon and doing all the things that’s required, and thinking about ‘Yellowstone,’ that beloved series that I love, that I know you love,” actor Kevin Costner stated. “I just realised that I’m not going to be able to continue Season 5b or into the future.”
He shared the video shortly after it was announced that the much-anticipated comeback of “Yellowstone” would take place on November 10.
Costner stated about the show where he played patriarch John Sutton, “It was something that truly impacted me. I enjoyed it, and I know you did too.”

“I just wanted to let you know that I won’t be returning,” he told me. “I love the relationship we’ve been able to develop, and I’ll see you at the movies.”
Costner recently appeared on Howard Stern’s show, saying he would only return if “the planets want to align up.”
“Which means the storylines, the scripts and then I want to work more than once a year,” stated Costner. “To accomplish this, specific times must be set aside. When that isn’t possible, that doesn’t work for me anymore.”
He also informed Stern that he spoke with the show’s creator, Taylor Sheridan.

“We both said what was important to us, and it doesn’t seem like we can [work things out],” says Costner. “My whole life has been about am I gonna stand tall even in some desperate situation where it doesn’t work for me.”
Costner originated the role of John Sutton and stated that he was certain the series could continue without him. He co-wrote, co-produced, directed, and starred in the first “Horizon” picture.
