Judy Farrell, ‘M*A*S*H’s Nurse Able, Dead At 84
Judy Farrell, who played Nurse Able on M*A*S*H, died at 84, according to ET.
Judy passed away on Sunday, nine days after having a stroke. Judy was consciously attentive while in the hospital, according to her son, Michael, and was able to clasp the hands of her loved ones but couldn’t talk due to the stroke.
As Nurse Able, she featured in eight episodes of M*A*S*H. From 1972 until 1983, CBS broadcast the popular American war comedy-drama series. Mike Farrell, Judy’s first husband, also appeared as Captain B.J. Hunnicutt in the show.
Mike expressed his condolences in a statement to ET, emphasizing Judy’s love for their family even after their divorce. “Judy was my first wife, and she gave birth to our two children.” Even though our marriage ultimately dissolved, we strived to be optimistic and worked together to raise our children.”
“Judy is a stunning woman, a gifted actress, and a fantastic writer.” She was a jock with a terrific sense of humor who pulled others to her, and laughter was the background music anytime she was present. “Judy was very much loved,” Mike remarked.

Loretta Swit, who played Major Margaret “Hot Lips” Houlihan on M*A*S*H, delivered a message to Fox News following Judy’s passing.
“Judy was a stunning woman on the inside and out.” Swit told the newspaper, “We grew up together.” “She was like family to me.” This has been a difficult loss, but the beauty of her memories will live on. Nurse Able, rest in peace.”
Judy’s television credentials include appearances on Get Smart, The Partridge Family, Port Charles, Fame, Quincy, M.E., and M*A*S*H.
Judy was married to Mike, her first spouse, from 1963 to 1983. She later married Joe Bratcher, with whom she remained until her death.
Bratcher and her two children, Michael and Erin, survive her.
