It Ends With Us Author Colleen Hoover Addresses Backlash Over Blake Lively’s Costumes In Film
There are no terrible costumes, according to Colleen Hoover.
The author of It Ends With Us has addressed the upcoming film’s criticism. Specifically, the criticism leveled against Blake Lively’s Lily Bloom’s clothes. Some fans were dissatisfied with Blake’s first set photos as Lily, which showed her in big patchwork jackets to, slouchy skirts and work shirts, all topped off with vivid red hair. One TikTok user commented on the costumes, “This feels like a prank.”
On the other hand, Colleen said that her characters’ clothes have never been a focus for her.
“I don’t remember describing outfits at all,” the 43-year-old told Jenna Bush Hager of Today on June 23. “I don’t care what they’re wearing. It’s all about the conversation and the story in my head. It’s the same in the film.”
On the other hand, Colleen says she likes all of the attention surrounding Lily Bloom’s images because it indicates that people “care.”
But she also doesn’t want viewers to be concerned about on-set images. “You’ve seen a couple of outfits that are completely out of context,” she said to Jenna’s comment. “I’m not worried about it.”

The film adaptation of the New York Times best-selling novel arrives seven years after publication. Blake will be joined onscreen by Jane the Virgin’s Justin Baldoni, who will also direct the film and play Lily Bloom’s boyfriend, Ryle, and 1923’s Brandon Skenlar, who will play Atlas Corrigan.
On the other hand, Colleen informed Jenna that she began the experience by keeping her expectations modest, identifying herself as a “realist.”

“I got to see the footage they’d gotten so far,” she said. “I’m not a weeper. Although I create emotive works, I am not an emotional person. And I sobbed a lot on set.”
