Iran launched an attack on Israel today with over 200 missiles, the majority of which were shot down or missed their intended targets. It is Iran’s second attack this year, following hundreds of missiles launched at Israel in April.
Iran’s armed forces joint chief of staff, Gen. Mohammad Bagheri, has warned that if Israel takes any action against its territory following the missile launches, his country will target its whole infrastructure.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded, vowing that Israel will reply to the missile attacks.
He clarified: “Iran made a big mistake tonight—and it will pay for it, the regime in Iran does not understand our determination to defend ourselves and our determination to retaliate against our enemies.”
Iran’s Gen. Mohammad Bagheri stated in a statement that Iran fired missiles at Israel in retribution for fatal Israeli attacks on Gaza and Lebanon, as well as the death of top IRGC, Hamas, and Hezbollah leaders.
According to a top Iranian source, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the country’s Supreme Leader who is now hiding, personally ordered the strike.
Iranian government supporters in Tehran welcomed Tuesday evening’s missile attack on Israel. Dozens of demonstrators screamed “Death to Israel,” waving Iranian, Lebanese, and Hezbollah flags and clutching photographs of assassinated Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.
Israel Warns of Painful Response
Danny Danon, Israel’s United Nations ambassador, stated that his government will decide when and how to reply to Iran’s bombardment of ballistic missiles, saying, “I can tell you one thing, it will be noticed, and it will be painful for Iran.”
The United Nations Security Council has planned an emergency meeting on the worsening crisis in the Middle East for Wednesday at 10 a.m., at the request of France and Israel.
President Joe Biden says his administration is “fully supportive” of Israel after it prevented an Iranian missile attack, and he’s in “active discussion” with advisers about how to respond.
“Make no mistake, the United States is fully, fully supportive of Israel,” Biden told White House officials on Tuesday. He added it’s unclear what consequences Iran may suffer.
Trump Warns Over WWIII
Meanwhile, as Iran attacked Israel, former President Trump blamed President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for the extraordinary escalation in the Middle East. Trump emphasised how the world had changed since his presidency, citing the rhetoric used in international debates concerning nuclear weapons.
“The word ‘nuclear’ was never used during my administration, but now other countries are using that word against us because they have no respect for our leadership,” stated the president.
He said. It’s no surprise that Iran really wants Kamala Harris to be President, knowing that as long as she’s in power, they can exploit America.
“If I had been in charge, October 7th, Russia/Ukraine, the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, and inflation would not have occurred.
If I win, there will be peace in the world again. If Kamala gets another four years, the world will go up in smoke.”
