Gangsta Boo, 43 Found Dead in Memphis, Cause of Death Unknown

Gangsta Boo, a former member of the hip hop group Three 6 Mafia, passed away at the age of 43, according to her label-mate DJ Paul K.O.M. Her death cause is unknown.

Gangsta Boo, born Lola Mitchell, was discovered dead Sunday afternoon around 4:00 p.m. local time, according to Fox 13 in Memphis, Tennessee. FOX13 confirmed the news with three independent sources.

After K-9, Gangsta Boo was the second female member of Three 6 Mafia. She went on to release several solo albums as well as appear on the group’s first five studio albums.

Gangsta Boo’s career began in the 1990s, when she joined Paul, Juicy J, and other founding members of the rap group, which included Lord Infamous, Crunchy Black, Koopsta Knicca, and others. Gangsta Boo was the crew’s only female rapper, but she held her own and blazed her own path for years as a member of T6M.

In addition to her own solo albums, which were receiving critical acclaim at the time, Gangsta was featured on Three 6 Mafia’s first five studio albums, including their debut record in ’95, “Mystic Stylez,” as well as other notable projects like ‘Chapter 1,’ ‘When the Smoke Clears,’ and even the ‘Choices’ album, which served as the soundtrack to the film.

Gangsta Boo left Three 6 in the early 2000s, but he went on to have a successful solo career, releasing another solo studio album and several mixtapes throughout the rest of the aughts and 2010s. This, of course, does not include the countless features she’s worked on with rap legends like Gucci Mane, Lil Jon, OutKast, E-40, T.I., The Game, and others.

She rapped well into the 2020s, frequently collaborating with Killer Mike and El-P in their hip hop duo Run The Jewels. Gangsta Boo was also continuing to collaborate with various media outlets to release music, such as UPROXX and others.

Gangsta Boo was a fixture in the Memphis community and music scene, and he appears to have been well-liked by the locals. She was recently active on social media.
