Euphoria has lost a cherished celebrity.

Angus Cloud, who played heroin dealer Fezco on the HBO show, died on July 31 at his family’s home in Oakland, California, according to his relatives. He was 25.

“It was with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today,” his family said. “As an artist, friend, brother, and son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways.”

Cloud had recently lost his father, according to his loved ones.

“Last week, he buried his father and struggled intensely with this loss,” the statement went on. “The only solace we have is that Angus has been reunited with his father, who was his best friend.” Angus was honest about his struggles with mental health, and we hope that his death would remind others that they are not alone and should not fight this alone and in secret.”

“We hope the world remembers him for his humor, laughter, and love for everyone,” his family said. We want privacy now because we are still grieving the loss of our loved one.”

The cause of his death was not disclosed.

Cloud was raised in Oakland before being spotted on the streets of Brooklyn and placed in his breakthrough role, Euphoria. “I was with some friends,” he said last year to Variety. “We were just hanging out.”

Angus Cloud, who played heroin dealer Fezco on the HBO show, died on July 31 at his family’s home in Oakland, California, according to his relatives. He was 25.

While he rapidly became a fan favorite on the high school-set program, which also stars Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Maude Apatow, and others, he stressed that he is not his stoner character Fez.

“It bothers me,” Cloud admitted, “when people say, ‘It must be so easy!‘” You are free to enter and be yourself.’ ‘Why don’t you do that?’ I say. That is not the case. I contributed much to the character. You are free to believe whatever you wish. It has nothing to do with me.”

He remarked that acting was more difficult than he had anticipated.

“It astonished me,” he explained, “because I’m not sweating and busting my ass, but mentally, I get off work, get in the car, and go, ‘S–t! What the f–k is going on? I’m exhausted as f–k, and I’m not even doing s–t!’ I’m a really laid-back, silly guy. But Fezco rarely laughs or smiles.”

Cloud escaped another near-death encounter a decade before his death when he fell into a construction pit while strolling at night. “I woke up 12 hours later at the bottom,” he explained to Variety. “I was entrapped.”

Cloud, then 15, eventually crawled out and caught a bus to his mother’s house.

“It was hella hard to climb out,” he explained, “because my skull was broken, but my skin wasn’t, so all the bleeding was internal, pressing up against my brain.”

When he arrived home, the actor just wanted to sleep, but he praised his mother for thinking on her feet.

“I would have died,” he said. “She gave me some water, and I started vomiting gallons of crimson red blood.” That was wild. My mother then took me to the children’s hospital, where they saved my life. That’s where the scar comes from. They sliced my head open, put some screws and a plate over where I had broken my skull, and—s–t, sealed me up, and that was the end of it.”

Cloud has been on North Hollywood, The Line, and in music videos for Becky G, Karol G, Juice WRLD, and Euphoria.
