Stephen Colbert Cancels ‘Late Show’ Episodes After Suffering Ruptured Appendix

This week, Stephen Colbert has called in sick from his “Late Show” hosting duties.
Colbert revealed on Threads on Monday that he cannot air this week’s previously scheduled new episodes of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” due to his recovery from surgery.
“I’m sorry to inform you that I will have to cancel our shows this week.” “Turkey overdose, Steve?” I’m sure you’re thinking. “Did the gravy boat capsize?” “Actually, I’m recovering from appendix surgery,” he wrote.
Colbert said he is “grateful” for his doctor’s treatment and thanked his wife, Evie McGee-Colbert, and their children for “putting up” with him.
“Going forward, all emails to my appendix will be handled by my pancreas,” he joked at the end of his message.

Jennifer Garner, Baz Luhrmann, Patrick Stewart, Kelsey Grammer, and Barbara Streisand were scheduled to appear as guests on the
“Late Show” when it returned from Thanksgiving break on Tuesday, with Grammy-winner Jon Batiste planned to perform on Wednesday.
According to a statement on X (previously Twitter), Stephen was similarly forced to cancel a week’s worth of performances “per doctor’s orders” after testing positive for COVID-19.
The “Late Show” airs on CBS at 11:35 p.m. EST Monday through Friday and streams on Paramount+.
