The Lord of the Rings Star Robert Aramayo is Set to Play his Next Lead Role in the UK-set Biopic

Robert Aramayo, who starred in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, has landed his next starring part in the biopic I Swear, set in the UK.

I Swear is director Kirk Jones’ first feature film in eight years, telling the life of Tourette’s Syndrome campaigner John Davidson. Principal photography has recently completed in Scotland (via Variety).

Robert Aramayo will play Davidson in the film, which follows the campaigner’s battle with Tourette’s during his turbulent adolescence and early adulthood.

Davidson was diagnosed with Tourette’s at the age of 15 in 1980s Britain, when the disorder was widely misunderstood.

“Targeted as insane by his peers, Davidson lives with a condition few have ever witnessed, as he attempts to live a ‘normal’ life against the odds,” according to the film’s official logline.

I Swear stars Shirley Henderson (Bridget Jones’s Diary), Maxine Peake (Anne), Peter Mullan (Ozark), and individuals with Tourette’s.

The film’s production crew collaborated closely with the Tourette’s community to accurately depict the disorder on screen.

Jones co-produces with Georgia Bayliff and Piers Tempest in addition to directing. In a statement, the trio acknowledged their thanks, saying: “It has been a pleasure and an honour to bring John Davidson MBE’s tale to life.

“John lived with Tourette’s at a time when it was misunderstood and he has spent his life trying to make sure those diagnosed today do not have to go through what he went through.”

They went on to say, “Robert Aramayo could not have been more prepared or committed to the role, and he delivers a breathtaking performance after spending months with John in Galashiels.”

“The team was keen to tell the tale and create a video that represented the humour, emotion, and drama of life with Tourette’s. This one-of-a-kind project has been a privilege for the whole crew, actors, and production team.

Robert Aramayo portrayed Young Elrond in the first season of Rings of Power in 2022. The show’s second season premiered on Prime Video on Thursday (August 29).

Digital Spy commended season two for its “clearer character development and generally more concise storytelling” in its review.

I Swear doesn’t have a release date yet.Season 2 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is now available on Prime Video, with new episodes launching every Friday.
