Los Angeles: Wednesday night at the Music City Centre in Nashville, country sensation Keith Urban and Kix Brooks of the formidable duo Brooks & Dunn will be inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
At the 53rd anniversary gala, Urban, a musician who has won four Grammy Awards, is honored for his songs, including “Days Go By,” “But for the Grace of God,” and “Who Wouldn’t Wanna Be Me.”
Kix Brooks’ compositions for Brooks & Dunn, which included the Grammy-nominated “Brand New Man,” “You’re Gonna Miss Me When I’m Gone,” and “Only in America,” helped to define the iconic country music sound of the 1990s.
In the category of contemporary songwriters, Casey Beathard and David Lee Murphy are also inductees, while Rafe Van Hoy is honored in the category of veteran songwriters.
Urban told The Associated Press via telephone before the ceremony, “It is among the most elusive qualities. It is the key to great songwriting.” There are days when everything flows effortlessly and others when nothing exists. “I sincerely hope there is never a day when I approach a significant other to collaborate on a project and receive no response.”

Urban claims that he has learned over the years that it is best to be kind to oneself if the inspiration to compose a song does not strike one day.
“Be in the present moment and flow.” It is present if it is there. It is not what it seems. “However, I believe there is a true balance between craft and inspiration,” he stated. “It is a combination of those two elements along with an abundance of mysticism.”
To state it, no equation exists.
“This is alchemy in nature.” He continued, “You are creating something where nothing existed.” “I have stated numerous times that while it is physically impossible to conceive a child, it is possible to manifest a song.” Additionally, that composition did not exist the day before. Moreover, it currently exists and will perpetually exist. “And that is an incredible sensation.”
