Anna Cardwell, ‘Here Comes Honey Boo Boo’ Star, Dies At 29 Following Cancer Battle

Reality television personality Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell, best known as Mama June Shannon’s daughter and Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson’s sister, died after a battle with cancer. She was 29 years old.

Shannon announced her daughter’s death on Instagram on Sunday.

“With a heavy heart, we announce that (Anna) is no longer with us.” “She died peacefully in my home last night at 11:12 p.m.,” Shannon wrote under a family photo. “She put up a good fight for ten months.” She died with her family by her side…and we will keep you updated as more information becomes available today. We love you all and will continue to pray and think of our family throughout this terrible time.”

In an email to USA TODAY on Sunday, Shannon’s agent, Erin Santucci, confirmed Cardwell’s death.

We TV and Thinkfactory Media said in a statement that they were “deeply saddened by the passing of Anna Cardwell, a loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend.” “Please accept our heartfelt condolences to June, Pumpkin, Alana, Jessica, and their families during this difficult time.” Anna will be sorely missed, but her light and spirit will continue.”

According to TMZ, Cardwell was diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal cancer in January. Cardwell posted an update on her treatment on Instagram in May, just after beginning her third round of chemotherapy.

“This (was) yesterday,” Cardwell said alongside a photo of herself and her husband, Eldridge Toney. “Cracker Barrel was good going down but not up 😂 But overall it’s going good, and chemo is working, we come to find, so things are looking good.”

From 2012 to 2014, Cardwell participated in the TLC reality series “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,” which focused on the family life of child beauty pageant queen “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson. Cardwell also appeared in Thompson’s “Toddlers & Tiara” reality show from 2012 to 2013.

In her Instagram post on Sunday, Thompson also lamented the loss of her sister.

“I don’t know what to say as my heart is completely broken,” he wrote. “It hasn’t been easy watching my 29-year-old sister battle this horrible disease over the last year.” Anna was (and still is) a warrior.”

“I’m so glad you waited until I got home to take your last breath!” she added. I wish you could have seen me graduate from college, but I know you will always cheer me on in paradise! We will all work together to ensure your legacy continues in perpetuity. And I swear to always remember your birthday as if you had never left! Today’s sky appears a little different. Anna, we shall always love you.”

Cardwell and Thompson attended Shannon’s wedding to boyfriend Justin Stroud in February. Cardwell’s siblings Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird and Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon and Shannon’s grandchildren Stella, Sylus, and Bentley Efird were also present for the oceanside wedding in Panama City, Florida.

“This was the first time the family had all been together since 2014,” Mama June stated. “It was really special to get married in a place where my family and I have had so many memories.”

Toney Cardwell and daughters Kaitlyn Elizabeth and Kylee Madison survive her.
