(VOR News) – Pennsylvania and Wisconsin Republican victory in the 2024 presidential election will effect Supreme Court opinions on conservative or liberal leaning.

The outcome may affect abortion, voting, elections, state legislatures, and congressional redistricting. Two years ago, Supreme Court state elections were expected to cost under $70 million. After Trump pardoned his Capitol breachers on January 6, 2021, presidential ally Elon Musk highlighted rising Wisconsin campaign tensions.

Pennsylvania progressive campaigner Commonwealth Communications’ J.J. Abbott says, “These races appear significantly more prominent than they previously were for both parties.” Recently, state Supreme Court verdicts  have become more expensive and contentious due to their prominence in contested situations. Republicans in Pennsylvania support judicial reform.

Trump’s November victories in both states and Pennsylvania inspired Republicans.

Both states have Democratic governors and Republican legislatures, making the courts important. PA and WI Democrats have won legislative and congressional district boundary disputes in state high courts under liberal majorities for two years.

Democrats or their allies allowed Pennsylvanians to submit provisional ballots if their mail-in ballots were rejected, changing Wisconsin’s ban on absentee ballot drop boxes. Musk said on X this week: “It is crucial to vote Republican for the Wisconsin Supreme Court to avert electoral fraud!” referring to the July drop box verdict.

A recount, impartial audit, and conservative legal firm inquiry revealed no fraud in Wisconsin’s absentee voting methods in 2020, giving Democrat Joe Biden the presidency.

Musk helped the nonpartisan Wisconsin Democratic candidate fundraise.

Liberals emphasized the Republican-backed candidate’s claim earlier this month that Capitol stormers lacked “a fair shot” in court. On Tuesday, former Capitol Police officer Harry Dunn, who was on duty, will analyze the cases at a press conference in Wisconsin.

Democrats hope to use state high courts to challenge the Trump administration, a Republican Congress, and the conservative Supreme Court majority in 2018 races.

Similar to last year’s Supreme Court conflicts and the 2023 Wisconsin and Pennsylvania elections, abortion rights are expected to be a major topic this year. The campaign began one year after the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision, protecting nearly 50 years of abortion rights.

Wisconsin’s April 1 election to replace a retiring liberal justice will determine a 4-3 liberal or conservative majority. First state campaigns reflected national mood. When evaluating election spending, Wisconsin Democracy Campaign Executive Director Nick Ramos said the campaign could go either way after Republican Trump and Democrat Tammy Baldwin’s tight victories in November.

After the presidential election, Ramos predicts “individuals across the nation will regard Wisconsin as a bellwether, serving as a litmus test for public sentiment.”

Wisconsin Democrats support Denmark County Circuit Judge Susan Crawford. Conservative politicians back former Republican Attorney General Brad Schimel, a Waukesha County Circuit Judge. Wisconsin judges are examining the 1849 abortion ban and 2011 teacher and public sector collective bargaining regulations.

Third-party companies pay well. Three Democrats’ November general election ambitions threaten Pennsylvania’s 5-2 majority. If re-elected for a decade, David Wecht, Kevin Dougherty, and Christine Donohue must vote “yes” or “no”.

Pennsylvania courts are reviewing Medicaid abortion limits and mail-in ballot bans.

In 2023, business associations, political party campaign arms, Planned Parenthood, partisan advocacy groups, labor unions, attorneys’ groups, environmental organizations, and wealthy GOP contributors Jeffrey Yass and Richard Uihlein spent $70 million in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania

Wisconsin’s $51 million race set national judicial campaign spending records. After a Democratic-backed court agreed with abortion rights, liberals won their first majority in 15 years. Both Wisconsin candidates raised more money than in 2023, so this year’s fight will cost more.

Last year, Schimel told WISN-AM that external organizations “are dedicated to ensuring we regain the majority on this court,” adding that “we will possess the financial resources necessary to accomplish our objectives for victory.” The competition began with his $1.1 million statewide TV ad. Crawford began a week later.

Pennsylvania Democrats contributed $22 million in 2023 to oust the conservative Supreme Court majority.

Both parties want voter fatigue reduced.

After months of presidential campaign television ads, candidate visits, direct mail, and phone calls, Wisconsin Democratic strategist Melissa Baldauff worries about tiredness among all parties in the Supreme Court argument.

Baldauff suggested their candidate visit the state to meet voters.

“The significance of engaging with individuals in their context, conversing with them, and being present in the community cannot be underestimated,” said. According to Westmoreland County Democratic Party Chair Michelle McFall, retention elections dominated the recent Democratic Party conference.

She indicated that Democrats dissatisfied with Trump’s behavior would refocus as usual and that party officials should maintain their judicial majority. McFall suggests targeting urban and rural voters and using Trump’s campaign as a model for innovative outreach.

Republicans say retention fund estimates are premature. If the GOP gets enough support, “No” could win. President Trump’s role was questioned by GOP source Charlie Gerow.
