Eagles Security Guard DiSandro Banned From Sideline For Sunday Night Football Vs. Cowboys
PHILADELPHIA — The Eagles’ security chief, who was expelled from the game last week for his role in a scuffle with 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw, has been restricted from the sidelines for Sunday night’s game against the Cowboys, the team stated Saturday.
When Philadelphia (10-2) visits Dallas (9-3), Dom DiSandro can travel with the team and fulfill all other work activities. However, he is not permitted to stand on the sidelines.
“This is an ongoing conversation with the NFL, and we are going to respect the restriction that is currently in place,” the Eagles stated.
DiSandro grabbed Greenlaw from Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith and yelled at him after a third-quarter reception. Greenlaw sprang up and reached over two officials to put his hand in DiSandro’s face after being penalized for unnecessary roughness on the play.
Greenlaw was kicked out. DiSandro was also asked to leave, and he headed to the locker room to a standing ovation from Eagles fans.

“I know in Dom’s heart, he was truly trying to defuse the situation right there,” Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said on Monday. “I’m sorry it came to this, that anyone was thrown out of the game.” The play was exactly what it was. That game was filled with emotion. I’ve seen Dom do that before when trying to diffuse a situation. That’s exactly what he does. Yeah, I know where his heart is, and it’s honestly to defuse the situation and stop what was going on.”
Greenlaw said he and DiSandro apologized through intermediaries following San Francisco’s 42-19 victory over Philadelphia on Wednesday. He stated that he harbors no ill will.
“He seemed like a genuine guy, seemed like a guy that everybody loved in the building,” said Greenlaw. “I honestly despise the fact that it escalated to that point.” I was never a part of or witnessed that in the game.”

Greenlaw’s unnecessary roughness penalty was his third of the season, and his ejection was his second in the last two years. He was also ejected from a game last season for a head hit on Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert.
On Wednesday, the NFL issued a message to teams clarifying a policy that prohibits non-player staff from making physical contact, mocking, or insulting rival players or officials. The message further stated that only game officials or coaches should attempt to break up fights. According to the league, any breaches could result in fines or suspensions.
DiSandro joined the Eagles in 1999 and is a senior adviser to general manager Howie Roseman. DiSandro, a hefty, strong guy who avoids interviews, is responsible for all safety and security issues for players, coaches, and executives. He also oversees security at the team’s training facility, oversees security measures linked to team travel and logistics, and educates players on the NFL’s personal conduct rules.
