Drake Bell Speaks Out Following His Mysterious Disappearance

Drake Bell is attempting to explain his disappearance.

The Nickelodeon alum addressed the situation hours after officers looked for and discovered him.

“You leave your phone in the car and don’t answer for the night and this?” he tweeted on April 13 beside a laughing emoji.

The Drake & Josh star didn’t say anything else about the event.

Earlier in the day, the Daytona Beach Police Department in Florida issued a missing person alert on Facebook for Bell, who had not been seen since around 9 p.m. on April 12.

“He should be traveling in a 2022 grey BMW, and his last known location is potentially the area of Mainland High School,” according to the post, which included a photo of the 36-year-old Drake Bell. “He is missing and considered endangered.”

Officials confirmed Bell safe four hours after the initial communication, adding, “We can confirm law enforcement officials are in contact and Mr. Bell is safe.”

E! News reached out to Drake Bell’s representative for comment.

Drake Bell was last seen in public before his disappearance on April 11, when he and his son were spotted at SeaWorld in Orlando. Drake Bell has a 2-year-old son with his former wife, Janet Von Schmeling, whom People said had separated from the actor in January as he sought outpatient treatment for substance misuse.

This is not Bell’s first encounter with law enforcement.

After pleading guilty to attempted child endangerment, Bell was sentenced to two years of probation and 200 hours of community service in Cleveland court in July 2021.

“Today, I accept this plea because my conduct was wrong,” he said in a statement read aloud before his sentence. “I apologize if the victim was harmed in any way—that was not my intention.” I’ve taken this problem very seriously, and I’d want to apologize once more to her and anyone else who may have been affected by my conduct.”

He has also appeared in Drake & Josh, Ultimate Spider-Man, and The Amanda Show.
