(VOR News) – Today, Donald Trump became the first member of the White House to be convicted of a felony as a U.S. court affirmed his conviction in a hush money incident.

He has been given a “unconditional discharge” as a result of his unreported and secret payments to porn star Stormy Daniels. This was the outcome of what he did.

Since he has been elected President of the United States and will take the oath of office on January 20, he will not face any jail time or penalties.

Even if proven guilty, the president-elect will not go to prison.

One cannot be held legally responsible for breaching the law while in office or after leaving because of this position.

Consequently, the judge was unable to take any action regarding the matter, and as a result, the president-elect was spared from the possibility of imprisonment, even though the 34 counts of falsifying business records for which Donald Trump was found guilty in May 2024 carried the possibility of imprisonment.

Donald Trump would have received a four-year prison sentence if he had not been elected president of the United States. Instead, he is going to return to the White House and assume the role of President for another four years.

The decision was made by Donald Trump to participate in the court session online instead of in person. He made this choice even though he was fully aware that he would not be imprisoned.

The punishment was formally imposed by a judge called Juan Merchant in the state of New York. He stated: “This court has determined that the only lawful sentence that permits entry of a judgement of conviction without encroaching on the highest office of the land is an unconditional discharge.”

“Never before has this court been presented with such a remarkable and one-of-a-kind set of circumstances,” the judge added. The preceding sentence was followed by this one. The former president had no choice but to accept a “unconditional discharge” from the court since he had no other choice.

It was because the Constitution of the United States of America protects the nation’s highest office. There is a chance that choosing any other option would go against the presidential immunity granted to the nation’s top position.

Donald Trump made a desperate attempt to avoid the infamous distinction of becoming the first convicted felon to hold the presidency of the United States, even prior to sentencing. He accomplished this by trying to thwart his chances of winning the presidency.

Donald Trump used all his resources and power to avoid this distinction.

A few hours prior to the sentencing, Donald Trump made a statement expressing his belief that the entire legal process was, in reality, a “setback for the New York court system.” He also stated in this remark that he thought the sentence was unjust.

According to him, it has been a “terrible experience” and “it was done to damage my reputation, just so that I may lose the election,” he said. He added that a lot of pressure had been placed on him. Furthermore, he disclosed that he had experienced a challenging situation.

Donald Trump, however, was forced to stay seated and hear witness after witness testify against him throughout the hearings.

These witnesses testified that he had deceitfully concealed unlawful payments to porn star Stormy Daniels in order to keep her from disclosing their encounter before the 2016 presidential election, which he eventually won.

The Supreme Court of the United States faced a significant obstacle when it ruled that Donald Trump’s sentencing could begin. Despite his best efforts, he was unable to stop the criminal proceedings that were being brought against him.

Donald Trump is scheduled to return to the White House for a second term as President of the United States in only 10 days, and today’s sentencing has already occurred.
