Opera Singer David Daniels And His Husband Plead Guilty To 2018 Sexual Assault
HOUSTON, Texas – David Daniels, a well-known opera singer, and his husband have pled guilty to sexually assaulting another vocalist in Houston.
Daniels, 57, of Ann Arbour, Michigan, and Scott Walters, 40, pleaded guilty Friday after a jury was selected for their trial on first-degree felony charges of aggravated sexual assault.
Both pleaded guilty to sexual assault of an adult, a second-degree crime and were sentenced to eight years of probation and the requirement to register as sex offenders.
Following the hearing, Daniels, Walters, and their counsel declined to comment.
Samuel Schultz filed a criminal complaint in 2018, stating the two assaulted him in 2010 after meeting them at a Houston Grand Opera event while a graduate student at Rice University. Daniels and Walters were accused in 2019.

Schultz claimed he was welcomed to their flat and offered a drink that caused him to pass out. He awoke nude and alone.
Schultz offered to publicly identify himself to help others who are afraid to report an incident.
David, a countertenor, was sacked from his position as a professor at the University of Michigan and was pulled from a performance of Handel’s “Orlando” by the San Francisco Opera following sexual assault charges made by a student at the university in 2018.
David was accused of groping the male student and sending and requesting sexual images in the case filed in federal court in Michigan. Daniels was also accused of serving the student booze, giving him sleep medication, and sexually touching him, according to the lawsuit.
