Avengers Star Chris Evans Marries Alba Baptista, 20 Years His Junior
Chris Evans has married! The actor, best known for his role as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, married Alba Baptista, a Luso-Brazilian actress, at their home in Massachusetts on Saturday, according to Page Six.
Among those in attendance were Evans’ Marvel co-stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, and Jeremy Renner. To maintain the ceremony’s secrecy, guests were had to sign NDAs and hand over their phones.
Prior to their wedding, the actor and his now-wife, who starred in the Netflix series Warrior Nun, never disclosed their engagement. They’ve supposedly been dating for almost two years.
In November 2022, a source told People that the “Avengers” actor and the Luso-Brazilian actress had been dating for “over a year.”
“They are in love, and Chris Evans has never been happier,” an insider added, referring to their relationship as “serious” at the time. “His family and friends all adore her.”
Chris Evans and Alba Baptista was pictured holding hands in Central Park just hours after the news broke.
While little is known about the couple’s relationship, Chris Evans has been open about his feelings for Baptista on social media.
Around the time that word of their romance broke, the “Knives Out” star was observed leaving a seductive comment on Baptista’s Instagram post.
Then, in February, the “Captain America: Civil War” actor made the “Warrior Nun” alum his Instagram official after sharing a series of PDA-filled images to his Instagram Story in honour of Valentine’s Day.
Other photos Chris Evans has shared in recent months show the two harvesting apples, skiing, watching the Northern Lights, and even kissing in the car.
While Evans’ remarkable career as a long-running Marvel hero has earned him his own honours, Baptista has an equally spectacular past. The actress speaks five languages, including Portuguese, English, German, French, and Spanish, thanks to her mother, who is a translator.
Baptista is most known for her performance in “Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris” and has received numerous prizes for her work, including the European Shooting Star Award at the Berlin Film Festival and the most Actress Award at the Festival Ibérico de Ciné for her role in the short film “Miami.”
Alba Baptista was also named one of the Top 10 Breakout Stars of 2020 by IMDb.
While Chris Evans and Baptista have kept their romance private, the “Fantastic Four” actor revealed his desire to marry in November.
“That’s absolutely something I want — a wife, kids, and building a family,” he told People at the time. “When you read about most of the best artists, whether it’s actors, painters, or writers, most of them [admit] that it wasn’t the work they made [that they were most proud of], it was the relationships, the families they created, the love they found, and the love they shared.”
“So it’s also something that rings true through my long 41 years,” he concluded. Those are the most significant considerations. I adore the idea of tradition and ritual; I’ve had a lot of that in my life, so I can’t think of anything better.”
