Pat Sajak announced his resignation from Wheel of Fortune by stating on X (previously Twitter) that this season would be his last. His last show is on Friday.
Before his final broadcast this week, Pat Sajak spoke with a familiar face, his daughter, Maggie Sajak, about his 41 seasons and more than 8,000 episodes as the guy behind “Wheel of Fortune.”
In 2021, Sajak’s daughter will join the “Wheel of Fortune” team as its social correspondent.
Pat Sajak claimed in an exclusive interview with “Good Morning America” that he was at peace with the end of his stint on the show and is “enjoying” the final week. In June 2023, he stated that the show’s 41st season will be his final.
This was announced nearly a year ago. So I’ve had time to adjust to it. Pat Sajak told his daughter, “And it’s been a little wistful and all that, but I’m enjoying it, taking it all in and reflecting on the great run.”
Sajak and his famous television sidekick, Vanna White, have spent over four decades quizzing wheel spinners on fill-in-the-blank words.
Ryan Seacrest will take over as host of the show a few weeks after Sajak announced his resignation. Sajak expressed gratitude for the show’s success throughout the years.
“Somewhere along the way, we became more than just a popular show. We became part of popular culture. More importantly, we were a part of their life. And that’s been quite satisfying,” he remarked.
Pat Sajak stated that, while he could most likely continue to host the pop culture staple, he had other priorities.
“I’ve always told you this, and you’ve heard me say it thousands of times. Pat Sajak stated, “I’d rather leave a couple years too early than a couple of years too late.” “It’s been a great 40 years, and I’m looking forward to whatever’s ahead.”
Pat Sajak joked with his daughter about spending his new spare time playing with future grandchildren. “I’m quite content if it simply means that I can continue doing crossword puzzles and playing with my grandchildren. Here’s a hint. “There’s no pressure.”
Sajak’s final episode of hosting “Wheel of Fortune” will air on Friday, June 7, on ABC. The episode will air simultaneously with the season 41 finale of “Wheel of Fortune”.
