Hugh Jackman wants everyone to remember the significance of wearing sunscreen.
The Greatest Showman actor recently revealed that he had two tests for basal cell carcinoma. In a video uploaded to social media on April 3, the 54-year-old showed a bandage over his nose and mentioned going to the doctor.
“I just wanted you to hear it in case someone sees me on the street or whatever,” he explained. “I recently had two procedures. I just went to see my doctor… and she saw a few things that could or could not be basal cells. She has no idea.”
The actor then reminded everyone to take care of their epidermis.
“If I may take this opportunity to remind you that summer is approaching for those of us in the northern hemisphere, please wear sunscreen,” Jackman, who has previously been treated for basal cell carcinoma, added. “It’s simply not worth it.” Count me, trust me, no matter how badly you want a sunburn.”
“This is all stuff that happened 25 years ago, and it’s finally coming out,” he concluded. Apply some sunblock. You’ll still have a fantastic time out there.”
In 2017, Jackman also spoke out about his treatment for basal cell carcinoma.
“I know you’ve heard me talk about my basal cell carcinomas before,” the Bad Education star wrote in his Instagram post. If necessary, I will continue to discuss them. And if it just reminds one individual to wear sunscreen with a high SPF, I’ll be happy.”
According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, basal cell carcinoma is the most prevalent type of skin cancer, and it most commonly occurs when UV rays cause changes in basal cells, but it causes minimal damage if caught and treated early.
In 2017, Jackman also spoke out about his treatment for basal cell carcinoma, stating that he was doing well despite the conditions.
“It’s skin cancer, but it’s the least dangerous kind,” he explained on a March 2017 broadcast of Live With Kelly! “It’s just something I must get out after growing up in Australia as an Aussie with English parents.” But everything is in order. “Everyone has been so nice.”
