Mike Batayeh, best known for his role as the manager of a laundromat turned meth factory in Breaking Bad, died at the age of 52, according to the BBC. The actor and comedian died in his sleep at home in Michigan on June 1 from a heart attack, according to his family.
According to the family, Batayeh had no history of heart problems, and his death was unexpected.
His family wrote in a statement that “he will be greatly missed by those who loved him” and others who appreciated his profession.
In 2011, Batayeh starred in three episodes of the AMC blockbuster drama series Breaking Bad, which aired from 2008 to 2013.
Batayeh played Dennis Markowski, the manager of Lavandera Brillante industrial laundromat, a notable coverup for a huge meth manufacturing operation on the show.
Batayeh was also a voice actor and a comedian.
Throughout his career, he appeared in films such as American Dreamz and Detroit Unleaded, as well as TV shows such as The Bernie Mac Show and CSI: Miami.
He also provided vocal work in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
According to an online obituary, Batayeh is survived by five siblings and a huge extended family.
His coworkers and co-stars paid tribute to him.
“A devastating loss of a huge life – Mike Batayeh, you were everybody’s friend,” Rola Nashef, a Hollywood director and friend, wrote on Facebook.
“And by everyone, I mean everyone. There hasn’t been a single person I’ve introduced you to or a waitress who took our order who you haven’t made laugh, ponder, inspire, or root for.”
“You were the superstar we always admired and one of the funniest men I’ve ever known,” Yorg Kerasiotis, Mike Batayeh’s co-star on Detroit Unleaded, wrote.
