NEW YORK – A year after recounting her story in a 1,000-page memoir, Barbra Streisand has accepted a multi-part documentary on her life, which will be directed by fellow Oscar winner Frank Marshall.

Sony Music Vision unveiled the documentary on Thursday. It is presently untitled and has no release date. It will comprise previously unseen videos, pictures, and audio recordings from Streisand’s vaults. Alex Gibney, an Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker whose achievements include documentaries about Paul Simon and Steve Jobs, will serve as producer.

“For years, I’ve been thinking about the best way to share the vast amount of content I’ve been safely storing in my vault,” Streisand, 82, said in a statement. “These videos, images, and music masters—many of which have never been seen or heard by the general public—hold some of my most treasured memories. I’m thrilled that producer Alex Gibney and director Frank Marshall have agreed to join me on this trip.”

Marshall, who has directed documentaries about the Beach Boys and the Bee Gees and produced masterpieces like “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and “The Sixth Sense,” said in a statement that the Streisand film would “illustrate why she has become an enduring icon to a global audience of all generations.”
