NEW YORK – The domestic abuse trial of actor Jonathan Majors has been delayed until at least September 6 after New York City prosecutors requested additional time to prepare on Thursday.
Majors, 33, appeared in court for the start of his trial on charges arising from a March encounter with a woman who claims he pulled her arm behind her back, slapped her on the head, and shoved her into a vehicle. The woman was taken to the hospital for minor neck and head injuries, including an ear cut.
Majors are charged with misdemeanors, including assault, and could face up to a year in prison if convicted.
After prosecutors from the Manhattan district attorney’s office requested extra time for discovery, the judge set a new preliminary trial date of September 6.

Majors exited the courtroom following the hearing, acknowledging those in the gallery. He put his hand to his heart to a woman sitting near the door at one point.
In an email, majors’ attorney, Priya Chaudhry, stated that he was wrongfully jailed and “suffered at the hands” of his accuser.
She called Jonathan “the real victim in this heinous ordeal,” saying he “has had his life, career, and reputation ripped apart.” Nonetheless, he stays steadfast in his determination to be released from this horrible captivity.”
Majors has appeared in films such as “Creed III,” “Antman and the Wasp: Quantumania,” and others.
“We look forward to presenting the full facts and evidence at trial,” said the spokesperson of Doug Cohen, a Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
