(VOR News) – In an effort to improve Thailand’s economy through tourism and travel, the government of Thailand has suggested new laws regarding visas.
A number of these programs, including the Visa on Arrival (VOA) and 60-day visa exemption programs, as well as the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) and student visas, are scheduled to take into effect on July 15, 2024.
Absence of visa requirements
It is anticipated that in the not too distant future, Thailand will eliminate the need for nationals of 93 countries and territories to obtain a visa. This is an increase from the previous number of 57 countries.
Participants in this program will be granted permission to stay for a period of time that does not exceed sixty days for the purpose of tourism and for short-term business activities.
This permission will be granted to visitors who are participating in this program. In the event that you visit the Immigration Office, you will have the opportunity to extend this period of time for an extra length of time that does not go beyond thirty days.

The acronym VOA refers to “visa on arrival.”
As of right now, applicants seeking visas on arrival in Thailand will be allowed to submit their applications at immigration checkpoints from 31 countries and territories, which is an increase from the previous number of 19 countries and territories.
In accordance with the provisions of this program, visitors will be granted permission to remain for a period of time that does not go beyond fifteen days for the purpose of tourism. Obtaining a visa will set you back 2,000 Thai Baht.
There are Armenia, Belarus, Bhutan, Bolivia, Bulgaria, China, Costa Rica, Cyprus, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Fiji, Georgia, India, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in the region.
A number of countries are represented on this list, including Malta, Mexico, Namibia, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Seychelles, Taiwan, Tunisia, Uzbekistan, Vanuatu, and Venezuela.
“DTV” stands for “destination Thailand visa.”
A new visa policy that is being implemented in Thailand is called the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV), and it is being implemented in order to accommodate remote workers, digital nomads, and freelancers, as well as participants in activities such as Muay Thai classes, Thai cuisine classes, sport training, medical treatments, seminars, and music festivals.
It will also be possible for DTV holders’ spouses and children who are reliant on them to participate in the program.
Applicants from other countries are required to present either a proof of money or a guarantee of at least 500,000 Baht for the duration of their stay in order to be eligible to submit an application for this visa. Obtaining a visa can set you back 10,000 Thai Baht.
DTV holders will be eligible for a five-year stay with multiple entries for cumulative durations that do not exceed 180 days.
This is in addition to the fact that they will be able to bring their dependent spouses and children with them. The duration of this stay may be extended for an additional 180 days, with a maximum extension of 180 days.
Students who are eligible for a Study Permit (Non-Immigrant ED Plus)
Individuals who are currently enrolled in higher education programs that are located outside of Thailand will be granted permission to remain in the nation for an additional year once they have completed their studies.
During the extended period, it is also feasible for them to find job, and if they are employed locally, they have the ability to upgrade their visa to a Non-Immigration B visa without having to leave Thailand. This is a possibility for them.
