2023: Call Her Daddy’s Alex Cooper Is Engaged To Matt Kaplan

Alex Cooper is engaged, so call her daddy fiancée.

The Call, Her Daddy podcast presenter, announced her engagement to film producer Matt Kaplan in an April 24 interview with W Magazine.

After meeting on a Zoom conversation in 2020, Alex began dating Matt—who co-produced To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and is the CEO of Ace Entertainment—and they went on to have a private relationship before taking this next step. After all, Alex called him “Mr. Sexy Zoom Man” on her podcast. But now Matt’s real name (as well as his title as her fiancé) is known.

How did he ask the specific question? It took some creeping around.

Matt and Alex’s PR staged a false photo shoot in March so that Alex would be ready for the important occasion when it occurred. Alex returned home from the spoof shoot to a sea of lit candles, music, and a scavenger hunt.

According to Alex, the scavenger hunt featured a distinct theme in each room, with images and souvenirs from their relationship. The final hint in the hunt was a glass of champagne and a card directing her to their courtyard.

“He was down there with our two dogs, all dressed up in little bow ties,” Alex recounted. “He got down on one knee and proposed to her, saying, ‘You’re my soulmate, the love of my life.'” You help me become a better man. Please honor me by marrying me.’ I blacked out. I initially said yes. It was quite strange.”

Alex didn’t always picture herself in such a special moment.

“Matt and I had talked about having kids together, but I was always unsure if marriage was something I wanted,” she explained to the site. “Growing up, I never wanted to conform to what society expects of us: to marry a man and live happily ever after.”

But her feelings about marriage shifted after she started seeing Matt.

“With Matt, it was immediately obvious to me, once our relationship had progressed to the point where it was time, that yes, I would love to marry him,” she said. “We had a great dynamic early on that I hadn’t had in previous relationships, and that is the amount of communication—even over-communication—about difficult things.” Having that foundation of honesty and trust allowed us to navigate through things in life that I couldn’t imagine being with anyone else.”

As a result, Alex gave Matt the thumbs up before officially saying “yes.”

But her feelings about marriage shifted after she started seeing Matt.

“We went to Giorgio Baldi for a date night in November, and I told him that he could propose whenever he wanted,” she recounted. “He was beaming because he had accepted that maybe we wouldn’t get married.”

Now, Alex wears a beautiful, oval-cut engagement ring on that finger. She can’t put her finger on how she envisions her wedding day.

“Quite literally, I have no idea what I want,” she confessed. “I never imagined myself getting married as a child.” I don’t have a flower and dress Pinterest board. What I do know is that it will not be one of those huge gowns. No princess gowns for me; however, I could wear sweats underneath.”

Regarding having Matt on her wildly popular podcast, Alex stated, “In terms of a full-length interview, I don’t think right now.” But who can say? Ever say never.” If that happens, Matt will join a long line of interview topics welcomed by Alex, including Hailey Bieber, Madison Beer, and Cole Sprouse.
