Billy Porter and Adam Smith are currently posing alone.
After six years of marriage, the American Horror Story actor and the entrepreneur have divorced.
“I can confirm that Billy Porter and his husband Adam Smith have made the sad decision to end their marriage after six years,” Billy’s representative Simon Halls told People on July 5. “The decision was made amicably and mutually after much deliberation.”
Simon said, “They continue to love and support each other as they embark on this next chapter.”
According to People, the exes initially met at a dinner party 2009 and dated for seven months before calling it quits. Billy, 53, and Adam, 41, rekindled their passion five years later and wasted little time the second time, marrying in January 2017, only 16 days after the Pose actress proposed to Adam.
Following their wedding, Billy opened up details about how he reconnected with Adam after their original breakup.

“I remember saying to my therapist, ‘Now I know what love looks like, and it just walked out the door,'” he explained to People in 2017. “Before that, I had no idea what it looked like, and it was only after that that I realized, ‘Oh, s–t, that’s the one that got away!'” But now that I know what it looks like, I’ll be ready the next time it appears.”
But little did he realize that love would return.
“I didn’t realise it was going to show up as the same person—but I’m glad it did!” Billy added.
Billy took to Instagram just five months before their separation announcement to thank Adam, the creative director of The Smith Society, a swimwear company that launched in August 2022.
“Happy birthday, my lovely husband.” “I am so grateful to have you by my side on our journey together,” he said on Instagram on February 3, alongside a series of photos of the two. “You are my light and my rock.” I am extremely proud of you and like seeing how your mind works and how dedicated you are to following your objectives.”
“You are a trusted friend and confidant to so many, a loving brother and uncle, and a fantastic dog-dad to our baby Lola,” Billy said, referring to the traits he admires in his partner. We are extremely fortunate to have you. “I adore you.”
